Buzzed off all but one that I found later

1767739093128.jpeg

Buzzed all the nuts off of the 3rd tire

1767739163578.jpeg

After trying to use the tire irons and not getting any ware I backed up on the tire with the tractor. But only rolling up on one was a little uncomfortable so tried to roll up on two together and was a little better . The first one broke the bead.

1767739389983.jpeg

Got the outer part of the rim removed.

1767739434320.jpeg

I used the jack for the next one and still did not see the nut that was missed.

1767739482652.jpeg

Once the last nut was removed the outer rim separated from the bead.

I started out today trying to install the prop valve on my FJ40 MC and found out that it was threaded for 3/8-24 IF fittings and the fittings provided with the valve were metric. I gave Redline and call and they are sending me a metric prop valve.

So pivoted back to the M1102 and cleaned up the burrs in the brake drum/hubs from knocking out the races and seated new races in both.

Today I packed the bearings and hubs and assembled. I ran the nut up with the thrust washer until it stopped then backed off and adjust the nut for the least amount of thrust movement. Did not find my mag bases so did not use dial indicator but are looser then I found them.

1767909275143.jpeg

Used Ultra back on the seal edge.

1767909339395.jpeg

Seat the first seal

1767909474978.jpeg

Packed outer bearing

1767909516697.jpeg

Applied grease to the spindles

1767909568103.jpeg

Set the drum after loosening the adjuster and the drum slid right on.

That turned out really nice.
Now you know exactly what condition the bearings are in instead of guessing.

Would recommend spraying some fluid film on the stud base so the rims don’t rust to the drum.
But I’m sure you already have the wheels installed by now.

I am at a stand still right now waiting for Trail Worthy Fab to get the PVC rings out to me.

Yes I decided that I went to the trouble of removing and breaking down the tires I should PM the bearings and not knowing the history of the trailer before I bought it in 2012.

I know the history of my Land Cruiser because I am the only owner and It has new bearings and wheel hubs on the front axle to widen the track to match the rear that I reused the front wheel hubs for the FJ60 rear axle when I converted to a full floating axle and used front disc brakes for 4 wheel disc brakes..

Been a little busy over the holidays like most but back in November I finally got the call that my white oak boards, for the MT016 trailer, were ready for pick up so I went and got them.

Before I decked it I found a few leaks in the air lines so I Re-plumbed it with new Parker lines. After that I got to installing the decking. the decking is true 2x8x16 boards. they laid down well and actually got lucky and only hit very few existing holes.

I pre drilled and used 5/16 decking screws to fasten them down. lol ignore the gap in the middle, my math was off and the lumber wound up being a half inch wider per board that I overlooked and the gap I had in the middle that was planned for two smaller ripped boards wound up being only slightly larger than one board and wasn’t enough to worry about so I just laid the last board and went on my merry way.

Fast forward to last week I caught a warmer day and decided to treat the deck with 50/50 used diesel oil and fuel mix.
I heated the mixture up before applying to thin it down even more and I’m pleased with the results and Ill prolly do another coat in the spring when it warms up more.

Removed the O-ring

1769386124678.png

Cleaned and painted

1769386157825.png

Removed the original balance weights and buffed with a wire wheel

1769386203116.png

1769386223128.png

Replaced the valve stem

1769386263119.png

Sprayed the bead with Dawn dish soap to try to get the rings past the beads. At 210 lbs I am just to light and that proved to just be a waist of time. My size 12 feet also did not fit inside the tire and ring and had to find another way to get it accomplished.

Filtered valve stem cores came with the balancing beads

1769386380848.png

I bought 4 of these clamps an reversed them to spread the beads to help get the rings in

1769386445304.png

Was going to use 4 of the clamps to spread the beads apart after I reversed the clamps but they were to long and to light but eventually got the job done

1769386488668.png

1769386520406.png

Finally after having the charger hooked up to the tractor battery I got it started and used the bucket to press the ring into the tire and it was still hard and a little violent.

Before turning and centering the ring I opened the corner of the balancing beads and threw in

1769386670362.png

Leaned the tire against the bucket and used a tire iron and a lot of kicking with the heels of my boots to get the ring into place

1769386706891.png

O-Ring in place and used Super 77 adhesive spray to help hold it in the groove. I also marked the cut out where the valve stem needs to line up and marked the tire. These rims do not have the extra hole as a reference for aligning the inner and outer pieces of the rim

1769386750442.png

Inserted the rear of the rim into the tire and ring with the rim sitting on the 4x4 and things were lined up enough that the outer rim and used 4 generic nuts to pull things together. The threads were given a coating of anti seize.

1769386799063.png

Started the assembly nuts on all the thread and torqued them all to 125 lb/ft after using both electric and air impact in sequence

Inflated to 50 PSI and was looking for leaks

1769386901199.png

The valve stem was leaking and torqued it some more but did not stop the leak, so I took that section apart and applied sealant and it stopped that leak

1769386938046.png

Started working on the second tire and it did not go as well as the first tire and took several attempts with the tractor bucket to press the ring violently into the tire. But got it and pretty much destroyed the clamps I was using to spread the beads.

The ring was even tighter and so was a work out to get it orientated in the tire

1769386974833.png

Finally got it but a little center and that took awhile to get things to line up so the bolt holes and studs would align. Trust me even with out the run flat donut they are still heavy

1769387024777.png

Inserted the rear piece into the tire and ring

1769387062493.png

I was picking up the assembly to bounce on the floor to get the ring aligned and even used a hammer on the inside to get some force until things lined up to assemble

Use the 4 generic nuts to pull the rim pieces together

1769387190401.png

With the other valve stem leaking I put sealant on the second one before airing up. Once the nuts were all torqued to the 125 lb/ft I inflated this tire to 50 psi and started looking for leaks. No visible leaks so far. Have left them and will recheck and compensate for temp differential from last night to when I recheck.

I set up the tire jack I bought to lift the tires up to the hubs. It is rated for 150 lbs and with the PVC bead lock rings they weight about 135 lbs one of the flanges was bent for a wheel. I also had to raise the trailer up to get the hubs high enough to lift the tire to the hub.

1769463323214.jpeg

I used the extra rim to support the tongue jack to get some elevation and used my porta power kit and blocks for stability and lifting.

1769463517333.jpeg

1769463851465.jpeg

Once the hubs were high enough a 1/2 ratchet was good enough to lift the tire to get the elevation and the tires rotated easy on the rollers

Today I cleared the way and put the hitch on the tractor and rolled the M1102 out and transferred to the truck to do a road trip. It was smooth and when I got to Lander, WY I checked the hubs and they were cool. Got home and transferred back to the tractor and parked next to my car trailer. The 3 point hitch works so much better when hooking up and dropping the trailer especially for backing up, my 1-ton is too long the tractor is precise for backing up.

1769555790748.jpeg

The truck cast a shadow and with the camera was only able to see the lunette ring but not the hitch and guessed where center was on the lines and used brail and with that hitch it does not hurt anything to make contact.
