So I marked and put the 2:1 reductions away for safe keeping for the future for now, but after getting to drive it around, Not sure on the going back. Lol. I have an M1085 that came with highway gears and have now added the eco hubs. The “quiet” is pretty awesome although I now hear...
Fully agree, it’s sooo easy to take something for granted that seems obvious that you are intimate with that the next guy has no clue.
I left off one question.. What is everyone doing with their 2:1 reduction? Thats like 300lbs of dead weight. I’m pretty sure I am NOT going back. Is...
I’m a recent adopter of eco hubs for my 1994 M1085. My primary goal was to half the driveline speed to give the 3116 a chance to work where it’s supposed to in the correct RPM range. Any mpg gain obviously appreciated. Long term goal is a 20’ habitat to go play in desert and take to Alaska...
I would like to just say think you for this thread which is now bookmarked. I acquired an M1085 about a month ago and am finally getting serious about all the things I have been thinking about for the last year. This site has been great for ideas and knowledge and having this opening list to...
Yeah, And some of the short
i could see that, but what a waste of good material. I mean, not like the truck is a secret base that they now have intimate knowledge of how to sneak inside.. :). Im about to start my build and found the slide video that is still up super useful
I realize this is responding to a year ago, but did 5 Tons of DIscovery take all their videos down? There are like 3 on YouTube and thats it. Tired to search the forums here for a bit, but didn’t find much. I swear I have seen other build videos they did… (he also broke his leg and they sold...
Noted and will do. I will ultimately start a build/make trustworthy thread. Good news is I’m about 3 miles from desert BLM land so plenty of places to go get familiar with the truck.
I got the impression they bought it that way from Midwest. Not slamming anyone, just relaying what he told me. It has 1600 miles on it so I know it never got used, like freaking ever. They took the controller unit out so I am about to tear apart the dash to go looking for the harness.
Thanks, I had been looking for a while. Totally have the mechanical aptitude, but not a motor pool mechanic unfortunately. But I do like to be able to get myself out of problems, so this truck and i are about to get real close :)
Picked it up from a guy who was going to build an overland truck out of it then as he went to soundproof the cab got told”that will never be quiet”. So he bought a 2023 4 door RAM 5500 4x4 and this sat on his lot for 2 years
