Yes......12 years on same tire. Truck doesn't get used much (Thankfully)......wildland fires are not fun.
But what I don't understand is why BOTH front tires now don't have air pressure readings nor can you put air into them.
I think what I am going to do is order some O rings and take the...
So we've had this truck as our forestry tanker since 2013?? The CTIS has never worked and we've never tried to fix it. The other day, they tried taking a tire pressure reading.......nothing. Both front tires didn't read/ have any air pressure. Tires are full of air. I tried putting air into...
I emailed the pictures on my phone to myself hours ago so I could post them. Figured it might save someone else some trouble. They still haven't arrived in my 'InBox' yet........go figure.
Thank you very much for that parts list!! That went into the folder for that truck as reference.
Looking at that parts diagram makes alot more sense now that I've taken it apart and understand the in's and out's of those brakes. I was kind of suprised to find that there wasn't a return spring...
Hey NDT,
I had jacked the tire up off the ground to check wheel bearing play. It was when I leaned on the tire with the pry bar that the tire rotated an inch or 2.......with the parking brakes on!! No beuno. I tried adjusting them with the tire on (that's frustrating). I had ordered the...
NDT...writing on the fly. Sorry it doesn't make sense to you, but it did to me at the time. The wedges were 'stroked out'. I took some pics and will post them tonight. Writing from the laptop mounted in my truck. So the rollers went beyond the wedges and got stuck, they weren't retracting...
So I am PMing the forestry tanker for our dept. Jacked up front left drive axle (left intermediate axle/ the one in the middle) to check wheel bearing play. With the parking brakes on, the wheel moved back and forth (the play on the pinion travel). No parking brake engagement from the spring...
Thanks Simp.............I had seen the P2P listed before. I just didn't have the patience at the time to argue with it and get it going. Just got it working after trying for a bit. That really is a great program.
If I was the only one driving the truck, then I wouldn't hesitate to remove...
We have an M939A2 that is set up as a wildland/brush fire truck. The boys had the truck out this past weekend and one guy said he wasn't able to build air pressure and another guy who heard 2nd hand the truck would build air but after they shut it off is was leaking out of the air intake and...
Verified that it is indeed the Turbo seal on the exhaust side that has let go and spitting oil in the exhaust...............pictures to follow, but not tonight. Looks like I'll be rebuilding a turbo shortly!! :)
Thanks for all of the feedback, guys!!! I really haven't looked the machine while its running. I got this call Friday afternoon after beating myself up on an excavator. I drove up there with the full intention of just taking a pic or two, copying down some info, and then home to a hot shower...
Got a call about an M35A2 that was blowing smoke at idle and mid throttle, and blowing oil out the exhaust. At highway speeds the exhaust cleans up until you bring the rpm's down, and then the smoke comes back. Local garage had changed the oil and added 2 extra gallons of oil to the crankcase...
Replacement Brake chamber and there size for an M123A1C
So after Topo brought up the thought that maybe the 30/30 brake chambers might be to small, it starting my own doubts as well. The next size up brake cans would be the 36/36's for the princely sum of about $150/each. And then the...
Neglected to mention that after the adjustment of the clevis at the delivery valve and the road test, I removed the service air line at a rear can and re-measured the air pressure just to make sure I didn't have a PRESSURE restriction at the quick dump or double check valve. Pressure was still...
