So that bung adapter isn't threaded... it's just rubber, and it doesn't quite fit into the threaded NTP opening. I got it about halfway in, but that's the best I could do.

Aha... totally didn't see that. and I'll have to zip-tie around the cable entry too. Didn't think of that.

What’s the hole in the bottom of the generator? I have looked around inside, and I don’t see any holes.

You gentlemen can tell me if I’m being an idiot here… But I GREATLY dislike opening up my generator to work on it, or service it… and encountering a nest of Vespula sp. (wasps) of whatever size/stripe. Not that they don’t serve their ecological niche, but they don’t need to be in my generator...

So, any chance F14’s might be back in the menu after “current events”???

Yeah… it’s hard not to love the A-10. Too bad it never really got to work the Fulda Gap.

It's gotta be bittersweet for the pilots blowing those up on the tarmac. Especially the Hornet drivers.

Northeast folks... good luck in todays storm

OK... funny story time. Some years ago my wife and I had sold our house to upsize (had another child, needed the space), and I offered to show the new owner how to service the whole-house generator that was included with the house. He was a pilot, so I assumed he was at least somewhat...

It just works... until it doesn't... and at that point, the guy who regularly fusses with his generator can probably get his running again. The fire-and-forget Generac solution that you've been paying somebody else to maintain? In many cases the owners have never even changed the oil or opened...

This board of Kurt's is pretty nifty.

Yeah... your first hurricane is like that too. It's kind of exciting, and let's face it... you ALSO want the opportunity to prove to your spouse that all those preparation-related items you bought were worth it, and not a complete waste of money. It's kind of like camping at first... and then...

We have two systems on the property. One to run a large garage area, and one to run our living space (it’s a Barndominium build). This is larger of the two systems that runs our living space… you’re looking at about 14kW out of 45 panels in this pic: And those panels feed about 60kWh of...

What's your solar setup look like? I run almost 100% solar myself... curious what you did, and how it's working at your latitude/location (I hear CO is one of the sunniest states)

Wait... your kid did all of that at 13yo? Seriously? That's some real expertise.... my kids expertise at 13yo was mostly in playing Roblox or Fortnite

Alright… got parts inbound… thanks to several members here. Is it recommended to add anything to the ULSD for these generators? Does there seem to be any consensus on whether lubricity additives (in addition to the usual biocides for algae prevention) are either necessary or advisable? The...

Looking at it again, I think that brass fitting might be the pressure valve. There is a drain-plug on the bottom corner (visible in the pic) that they recommend for gravity-feed as a truck-bed aux tank. Might be better to use that instead.
