    M37 Restoration Project - Revived

If you have the later dash light assemblies (those that screw in from the front) change out the original 313 lamps with 356's. This will put the filament in line with the opening in the gages, thereby letting in lots more light. Don't forget to glean up those openings, the plastic insert will...

Went to see a nice M37, it has the dreaded death wobble

The most complex thing on any G741 truck is the original carb. Second on the list is the three-bearing pinon shaft. Third is the original wiring system. The rest is just shade tree knowledge. G744

Map of States That Are or Are Not HMMWV Friendly

AZ is a true playground for MV's. When it has it's 25th birthday, one can register it as a Historic Vehicle. That throws out ALL the commercial requirements: No logbooks, no CDL (because it is now a CLass A vehicle), no lighting requirements, or high-value insurance. My 5-Ton costs me some...

No lights, and magic smoke appears

Above is true UNLESS someone monkeyed with the wiring, usually caused by not understanding how blackout circuits are integrated into the system. G744

Went to see a nice M37, it has the dreaded death wobble

With all that said, it could be the following, not is any specific order: Worn or misadjusted steering box. Drag link wear. Drag link pivot wear. Front knuckle bearings loose (It doesn't have "king pins"). Tie rod end wear. Toe out of spec. Loose wheel bearings. Spring wear causing improper...

So, any chance F14’s might be back in the menu after “current events”???

I had a close friend that worked for a division of Singer Inc. (yeah, sewing machine company), and he did simulator service for the USAF. I was in flying classes in a 152 then, and said he was sure I could get some time in that sim. It was crazy by comparison to my fledgling piloting skills...

So, any chance F14’s might be back in the menu after “current events”???

I once flew the Tomcat simulator at Williams AFB before it was closed. Holy s--t, Batman! G744

LMTV Tires + Flipping Hubs in My Deuce - Is it needed?

Luckily, the original studs will work OK if not too battered by removal. If OK, pound 'em back in the other way. The web on the LMTV 10X20 wheel is the same thickness as the 10-bolt Budd.

LMTV Tires + Flipping Hubs in My Deuce - Is it needed?

Exactly what I've seen over the years. The deuce was never meant to be a real heavy hauler. Within the design specs, it was a great tactical vehicle. Simple & robust , good off-road. It was fielded simultaneously with the M-39 (G744) series 5-tons to handle the big jobs, with a lot of...

LMTV Tires + Flipping Hubs in My Deuce - Is it needed?

Flipped hubs look better, and all the lugs are facing out. I know, it's my 5-ton, same deal tho.

    Brakes, Airpack not working?

If the airpak is working, you can hear air bleeding off as you release the pedal from a full pump-up. G744
