MEP-802A losing oil and coolant (low hours)

I let the unit sit and completely cool down for several hours, then checked again after sitting overnight to confirm. I discovered interference with the radiator cap and the small hose that is very close to the cap. I removed the hose and replaced it so the interference is now gone. It may have...

MEP-802A losing oil and coolant (low hours)

I have not done a coolant pressure test yet. Good to know about being difficult to fill. Thanks.

MEP-802A losing oil and coolant (low hours)

Yes, I did pull the dipstick while running and it did not seem to have pressure. Good to know about the coolant. Maybe there was/is still air in the system.

MEP-802A losing oil and coolant (low hours)

I have a MEP-802A I picked up at auction. Only 29 hours, non running, parts missing, fluids drained. I replaced the missing parts and it runs and starts beautifully. I did a 6 hour load test at about 80% load and it ran perfectly. After it cooled down, I checked it over and discovered the...

Grounding neutral at the house (non SDS) MEP _802a chassis ground question

@Guyfang Hey, thanks for your reply. Yes, I should have said running without a load. I ran the generator today and put nearly 4 gallons of fuel through it. I started of with a light load and gradually increased the load to 80% to 100%. It was a cold start this morning at 30F. It fired right up...

Grounding neutral at the house (non SDS) MEP _802a chassis ground question

This is exactly what I was looking for. I am getting ready for the first test of a MEP-802A. It was a non-running unit with missing parts but only 25 hours. I have it running well now, at least at idle with no load. It is time to put a load on it. I was looking for the neutral ground bond but I...

    Winter front. M1078

My solution was not as elegant. I used a large piece of cardboard and wired it to the front of the truck. It definitely helped. I have operated the truck in temperatures as cold as -36C for long periods of time. At those temperatures it really depends how hard you are working the engine...

What have you done WITH your FMTV ( trips, Rescues etc) NOT: fixes, updates etc

The SRW is significantly underrated. I have the 11K SRW on the 2.5 ton truck and with a full drum it is rated to pull 6,780 pounds according to the data plate on the winch. I know that it can drag the truck on flat ground with nearly a full winch drum of cable. I did that by accident once. To...
