This circuit is to ground the fan relay so cooling fans come on. It leaves the evap and joins front harness, goes to high pressure switch, comes back and joins white wire to fording switch where there should be one empty hole with a terminal. The fording switch provides ground.
No, there is not 24 volts fed to the high pressure switch but if the ground circuit is open you will measure 24 volts there. It controls the fan relay which turns the fan on. It is grounded through the fording switch.
I know several people who have used the 1st gen and been happy. Key to good cooling is insulating the cab. A study by NIS showed that the 2nd gen was 16K btu. I have not found info on the 1st gen but would not believe Red Dot specs
