Again would like to thank everyone for their help. I believe this is the final update since I have a running unit and ran it a number of times for a period of time and no unusually behavior. Just have not put it under full load at this point.
Fuel Pump -
I finally got a working Fuel Pump, I...
Thanks, I was thinking it needed to be around 5 PSI was not sure if the GPH was too important since the generator only consumes about 0.8 GPH to run. I believe the pumps I am using are too high of pressure for the application. I did find a lower PSI pump with a 20 GPH flow rate.
May have figure out the fuel pump issue, the replacement pumps I bought had an output pressure of 14PSI at 30 GPH. I found information on ONAN diesel generators and it specifically says low pressure 3.5 to 5 PSI at 25 GPH. I believe that spec is on the ONAN generators is for their RV generators...
I am pretty sure the pump is dead it is showing open circuit no resistance, something opened up inside.
Based on what you all said, I will check the tank for dirt, I will drain it and see what comes out.
The reason I said it was Mothballed, the unit came with Certification claiming all fluids...
When I got the unit, it was mothballed, all fluids were removed as well as all the filters. When I primed the system I saw no signs of dirt or crude moving through the fuels lines. I checked the filter going into the primary pump and did not see any dirt. The tank was bone dry when before I put...
@Light in the Dark, thanks for the gauge troubleshoot guide.
I did go through all the gauges and senders.
Got the oil gauge working, loosen all the screws on the back and got the needle free and it is working now. Give it power and it goes to 0 lbs, running it goes to 60 lbs.
Gas Gauge is...
Got the generator running again, it still has a gremlin I need to figure out.
As it turns out the reason it was shutting off, bad fuel pump. I replace the original since it was broken and I bought a good pump, it was a Delphi pump. Not sure why it failed but it would run for a while and then...
As I stated, somehow the Volt Meter was taken out when I was testing, but others have reported this failure as well. There is a replacement from Simpson Model 55 P/N 08490 it just does not have the 120V 208V and 240V reds marked on the gauge, but the same gauge and available...
Tested Senders:
Temp Sender - 1200 ohms (cold) - definitely bad
Oil Sender - 264 ohms not running, drops to 13 ohms running, a little low but definitely working.
Fuel Sender - Could not really test it since it is in the tank and it is currently ~half full, 96 ohms which appears correct,
Tested...
Update: Batteries Charging
I got the batteries charging, checked everything, began to think it was toasted, then I notice the belt was slipping. I obviously had to remove the belt to take the gear cover off, I thought I tighten it enough, the bolt still had the green mark on it from when it was...
Update:
I got power generation - Issue blown Fuse for A1
Before I was able to get a replacement fuse, I did check the rotating rectifier bridge F+ and F- and got a resistance of 12.4 ohms at the wire lugs removed from A1. I figure I would start at A1 and work my way to the bridge in the...
Totally understand, bad actors ruin it all for all the good people.
It looks like the same problem is happen as yesterday. It could be the bad actors hitting Cloudfare and slowing it down for everyone. I am at home now not on a VPN and from he same IP I register with and I am now getting the...
Just to add my two cents, hope this helps
I was unable to access at all yesterday kept timing out, did not get "are you a human" from cloudfare. First time having this problem since joining in August. To make sure it was not just me I use one of those website to verify if the site was active...
Found the unit has the wrong fuse it should be a slow blow not fast FNQ-R-3 , I also read there are two fuses one for the input and the other for the output voltage to A1, where is the second one?
@kloppk I see you make a Fuse MOD Kit which is to protect the field winding and the A1. My unit...
Yep assuming get you in trouble sometimes, I will check the MPU output voltage to make sure it is all correct.
However, I remember checking the fuse on A1 when I first was trying to get the unit running and I check it inline not out of the holder. I just discovered it is blown, pulled it from...
