MEP-803A Troubleshooting Question - RPMs cycle after warm up

Team, as I followed the advice, above, I dug into the governor case. Removed the fuel rack - no noticeable issues. However, I inspected the shut-off assy, and noted the return spring was dislodged. See video: MEP-803A Trouble Shooting 2 #generatordiesel #project . Is there something I should...

MEP-803A Troubleshooting Question - RPMs cycle after warm up

Much of this machine is in great shape. Amazing for a 23 y/o. The wiring - all that is visible - is pristine. Boards and connections look new. Even the gauges look really good. I'm attaching a pic from the cylinder 1 "pipe assembly, fuel" 186-6170 for those who haven't looked at these.

MEP-803A Troubleshooting Question - RPMs cycle after warm up

I appreciate your insights here. I need to check all the lines thoroughly for damage. I'll advise. Given the earlier surge issue, I'm hoping that with new fuel injection pumps, the issue will be resolved. I'll be inspecting the rack while I wait for replacement parts.

MEP-803A Troubleshooting Question - RPMs cycle after warm up

I went through the fuel injection pumps. 3 of 4 are a mess. Rust, seizing - ouch. I'll deal with that first. I had a "pipe assembly, fuel" (metal fuel line from #2 fuel injection pump). I've made fuel lines, but the outlets (ends of the pipes) have what looks like a jet or some kind of...

MEP-803A Troubleshooting Question - RPMs cycle after warm up

I appreciate your thoughts. I was thinking the same. Frankly, the rack and metering pump problem is scarring me. I’ve seen a few vids, studied the TM, gone through some good posts here, but I feel like a pig starring at a watch. At this point, I haven’t used a load. Essentially trying to get it...

MEP-803A Troubleshooting Question - RPMs cycle after warm up

Guess attacking the governor image where the frequency control cable connects w/the adjustment screws before I followed the dash 24 for adjustment might be of interest.

MEP-803A Troubleshooting Question - RPMs cycle after warm up

Thanks so much to each of you for your sage inputs. Here's a quick update...after adjusting the set screws on the governor (they were totally unscrewed) and inspecting the frequency control cable, I'm confident that the frequency control setup works. Adjusted the Hz to 60 Hz on start up. Warm...

MEP-803A Troubleshooting Question - RPMs cycle after warm up

Thanks for that. I did figure out the difference between the frequency control and voltage knob. I decided to inspect the frequency control under the 120v receptacle. I followed the TM to adjust it. Unlock, press button, turn. My helper turned it and I watched at the governor. I believe that...

MEP-803A Troubleshooting Question - RPMs cycle after warm up

I'm a new MEP-803A owner - GOVPLANET auction - 2002, 2669 hours. Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): I did extensive pre- First Start maintenance. Followed the TMs for everything. The auction inspection noted that the fuel shut-off solenoid was sticking. I was, and I replaced it. Batteries, oil...
