I had a sunny Saturday, with no wind, and was able to spray some 383 Behr Marquee from 10+ years ago. For prep I used 60 grit on a corded finish sander to scuff the surface all over and to remove CARC drips and runs. Then I used some bare metal primer from a spray can over any bare metal that...

Here are some results from the citrate treatment on the fuel tank. Longer resting times, 2+ hours on a side with periodic agitation, yielded better results. Dipping a toilet brush in the fluid and scrubbing the fuel strainer rail also helped the dried detritus. Only problem was I couldn't place...

My 5 lbs of citric acid arrived. The fuel tank set overnight full of water. When I came out in the morning there was a petro chemical film in each of the opening. Letting it sit, full of water, must have floated the remaining residue to the surface. Not knowing how the ' Ultimate HOMEMADE Rust...

Not wanting to wait on delivery of the paper fuel filters or cork gaskets I made a paper one for the bowl and used a #238 gasket from a harbor freight assortment for the insert. Not a bad R&R. Time to start the multi-tasking. Get the batteries topped off. Start the fuel tank soaking, 1st a...

@Joe Bertram - My similiar battles (6'8" geezer bending under the fender on un-even ground to work on the filter) have paid off, I got the old girl to run today. Pro tip - get a couple threads started on lines & mounting bolts, but leaving it all loose. Then when everything is connected together...

Thanks again WillWagner. Wow NDT you are right, its the match, and there is a heap of various AC type T-2 fuel filter stuff out there. Even an aftermarket paper filter element. Much appreciated.

Sweet, Thank you Guyfang. Much appreciated. This site has so many helpful moderators. :clinto::naner::beer: Has anyone ever run across a company with a catalog of common gaskets. Sort of like what McMaster Carr does but with way more gasket products? It would be nice to be able to put in...

Looking for info and telling a story (so I don't forget) about a 5 ton Bridge truck, so I hope this is the correct forum / section. Decided I should try, yet again, to get Oso's Bridge truck running and parade ready in time for this years Veterans Day Parade, since I have failed miserably since...

    Baffles in or baffles out?

Thanks for the beautiful picture. You made my overcast, smoke filled, day. Thinking I may have screwed up the baffles during my repair I went back and looked at the the rig's original pictures. When I recovered the truck from Ft. Hill I had a bit of a '5 Ton Woe' in Burley, Idaho and had to...
