Thanks for your post and information. I am in the process of installing my OEM pump on the P400 engine so that I can road-test the truck. I would be interested in rebuilding the PSC pump with a kit when time permits. Can you provide more information on the kits? Source? Kit #?
Hey Rick! Good to hear from you. Regarding my PS issue - in re-thinking my actions during the project, I wish now that I had simply re-installed my original GM pump instead of opting for the PSC "High Performance" pump which lasted all of 20 minutes of driving. My original pump was Made in...
Thanks David. Throughout the 16-year project I have focused more on performance and convenience upgrades instead of cleanliness and perfection. My paint job leaves much to be desired, but I am totally OK with that. If I can ever get finished, I plan on driving & enjoying the truck every day...
Well, it's the pump. In fact, it's the new PSC SP1400 High Performance pump which lasted all of 20 minutes of driving. And because it has been eight years since I purchased the pump, obviously PSC will not honor the warranty. PSC wants $45 to inspect the pump and another $150 to rebuild it...
Thanks Barrman. I can confirm that there are no belts slipping and the fluid level in the pump reservoir is correct, so the issue must be either the new PSC pump is not pumping or the Hydroboost has failed. Where in the -34 did you find the section about troubleshooting? I'm in there now and...
After eleven months I finally completed my powertrain swap to a point where I could take a short test drive, back & forth beside my shop building before taking it out on the road. During the engine assembly period I had rebuilt my PS pump by reconditioning my original reservoir and installing a...
If I were you, I would abandon that silly overdrive unit and install a Turbo Encabulator. Chrysler Engineering developed the unit several years ago and there are still a few around in salvage yards. Here is a video -

Folks, after 16 years, I am almost finished. For the past few weeks, I have been making corrections and adjustments. I had failed to fully tighten the -6AN return line from the frame-mounted auxiliary cooler to the 765R4 transmission so I had to re-do that tight process. I also had to change...
It's been a while since I posted. Been busy trying to finish the truck. A lot has happened! Everything is pretty-much finished.
After priming the lines with the electric fuel pump, I cranked the engine on New Year's Day and let it run for exactly one minute, then shut it down to check...
Have yall considered removing the reduction box altogether and changing the Driven Gear to correct the speedometer reading? I offered to calculate which Driven Gear to use in Post #34.
I'm not sure if you already have this, but the colorized Glow Plug Circuit diagram might help you to understand where the problem may be. The Wire Size page translates the indicated wire sizes into actual wire gauge sizes. Hope this helps.
I'm preparing to install a couple of map lights in the interior roof panel of my M1028 and would like to know how much space there is between the interior and exterior panels. I need to drill a couple holes for the wiring and sure don't want to dimple the exterior roof panel (or drill through...
Just so everyone knows, the original thermostat listed in 34P is GM 14077122. There are plenty on Ebay including AC Delco and NOS. I know this sounds crazy, but if a thermostat were to be installed backwards, would that cause a loss of restriction and therefore no heating?
