I have pulled my parts truck out of the ditch uphill with eco hubs,I have the 3126 with the 275hp tune, it didn’t like it but it did it, the TC was stalled the whole time. Do you have a tach? You need to see it the TC is stalling. Typically if your TC is not stalling and RPM is redlining then...
The bearing is held together by 3 crimps, not much to it. I am not sure a piece of plastic is much better, but maybe if the plastic breaks apart it won’t destroy the housing.
From what I have observed from operation and reading the trouble shooting guides is that the alternator regulator seems to select a voltage from a few factors, battery chemistry, load and temperature.
I noticed with the truck 4 deep cycle flooded lead acid batteries, the voltage will run about...
Can you list some details regarding the dc-dc install? Do you have combined grounds? Or are you running an isolated ground? My installation I tried my best to keep the truck chassis ground and the camper battery grounds isolated. I even used a diode block to isolate the positive to prevent...
Most of us who regularly drive these trucks may have an anxiety (myself included) regarding steer tire blowout. There are many ways a tire can fail, one of the most catastrophic failures is a “zipper rupture” it looks to me that these failure cause an almost instantaneous deflation leading to a...
what happens with me is my truck breaks in my imagination, and my anxiety makes me fix it for real.
My imaginary failures are,
C6 thrust bearing
Steer tire blowout
Huei pump
Air compressor head
Engine ECU no comm
Flex plate separation
People have reported bad CAN bus resistors, also people have reported having 24volts shorted to the databus. I would suggest checking voltage on the 1939 and 1708 buss and verifiying you have only a high and low signal not a system voltage. Then check the can buss resistance. I would then try to...
After reading Ronmar’s write up I spent a weekend replacing my C6 thrust bearing. Not to bad, hardest part was cutting out the frame to access the housing.
After I replaced the bearing with the washer. I replaced the lube and scavenge filters and checked the transfer case screen to set a base...
I think I found your mystery part, it is the top or bottom transmission lube/scavenge filter potting. I was cutting open my filters to see any metal and the covers fell off, under neath is that same white compound you found through your valve body.
It just needs to take up the space, and be softer than the contact metals. Most thrust washers I have seen are usually brass, but I don’t see why aluminum would not work. It is prob comparable to Allison’s plastic washer. It also has the ability to not deteriorate with high temps or breakdown...
I think the databus has a temperature reading. One popular option is the bluefire system. You can see a trend rather on relying on an idiot light.
Ron, amazing description of the oil flow path and C6 operation, I have been trying to figure out the oil flow path for the C6 and transfer case for...
My truck started to have a rough idle on start up, after it is warmed up it seems to even out, I suspect loosing prime. The manual has a diagnostic where you put a sightglass on the return to see if it is excessive air bubbles, and how to find a leak.
Yeah, I would imagine a vibration contributed to the failure. Most people who have posted a tear down of their C6 as a preventive measure has not seen any issues.
Your C6 has prob failed a while ago and the only symptom was the scavenge screen getting clogged causing the overheat.
Your SN is...
I saw on FB that you replaced your engine due to a crack in the block. Have you had your drivelines rebalanced?
The 4x4s seem to have more vibration related damage and also a C6 thrust bearing failure, I have wondered if the vibration causes that thrust bearing to fail sooner.
Were you able...
