So I read the manual for the level check procedure and followed it. the TM for the 4 speed truck says Dexron VI but the dipstick said Dexron III which confused me.
and yes I’m getting fluids leaking. It drops a fair amount, Usually a large amount when it starts or idles. When I drive it...
So now it appears my transmission (4l80) is leaking, or perhaps it always was, and it just looked like motor oil before with some dirt and gunk in it??
But it’s clear/thin/red now and my dipstick is showing low fluid.
question before I top it off, the TMs show Dexron VI but my dipstick stick...
I can’t be certain but I think my leaks are at these two joints in this small length of hose. I have tightened the hose clamps a few times now (it kept leaking) and I think they are just stripped at this point.
is there a better performing clamp I can buy? Should I go ahead and replace the...
Ok guys I think I’m going crazy or something. I have added dye to the power steering and the brakes. I’m not seeing any neon on the power steering pump or the motor mount which is getting wet with power steering fluid (?). I’m not seeing any leaks whatsoever on the brakes.
But my front...
That site glass was just covered in dust. It was full to the brim . I tightened two hose clamps that I hope are the source of my problem and added the dye . I didn’t drive it yet bc of all the rain we are having;figured it might rinse off.
PS: hose clamps on important systems seem like a...
So, i meant it when I said I had no experience. And most times looking through the TMs I can’t even find what I’m looking for.
Is this thing the power steering reservoir? And that’s where I would add the dye?
And then separately : if this leak is brake fluid , it’s probably leaking from the...
I have a black light, been trying to find my AC leak with it lol.
Perhaps I’ll try some of that additive.
I have no experience working on cars and while im beyond handy, simple repairs take me forever with the research, diagnostic, doing it twice to get it right, etc.
Idk if it’s the weather, but my truck [2009 m1165a1 REV] seemingly sprung power steering, front Diff, brake caliper(?) and a rear main seal(?) leak all witching the last few weeks.
1- how do I go about determining where my power steering is actually leaking from? Hoses? Fittings? Clamps...
In case anyone cares…. I cut off that little thumb that retains the carrier on the bumper, then drilled out the pin hole to 5/8s, which fit this convenient one piece pin. Now the tire comes on and off with just a little tug/push.
I also cut and modified that drop down stoping latch thing. The...
I recently installed a rhino spare tire carrier on my truck. It’s pretty sweet, except when I want to drop the tailgate. It’s like a 10 minute procedure to get out the wrench, wrench it up swing it outa the way etc etc.
Has anyone modified the latching plate to quicken the process?
