Hello, if you need one there is a nice shape VDO 310901 Cylinder Head Temp CHT 100-600 deg Gauge on ebay for $79.36 shipped. VDO stopped making these a few years ago making them extremely hard to find, with only an aftermarket, made in China version being all that's available on the market...
Top view of Roger's original deck shows two hex bolt heads at the front corners of the shelf, corresponding with the two 1" OD vertical tube supports to the B Pillar cross tube:
Assume those are two 3/8-16 TPI or 1/2-13 TPI hex bolts that thread into the vertical tubes:
I've scrounged much of the aluminum angle, flat, round & expanded/flattened mesh needed to build a copy of the FAV Radio Shelf/Deck (do we have proper nomenclature for it yet?
Detailed drawing from Roger have given me a 35.5in max width, 21in length front to rear.
Flat bar & angle stock are...
I had to find a different protector/angle gauge. I'm going by the A Pillar vertical tube in the rocker panel front, going to measure the A Pillar roof tube to rocker vertical tube angle, subtract that from 180 degrees to calculate the bend angle for the 1/4" plexiglass.
My initial dive into FAV Side Bin fabrication came from a template Roger traced for me from one of his bins. Zooming in on the various member builds has shown quite a few differences between individual FAV. In this case I've noticed a difference in fabrication methods for the 1" OD Aluminum...
Roger, what's the correct model Sure Power Battery Balancer? I see it should be the 4 stud type, but some of the Sure Power units require excitation from the alternator/generator (idiot light on VW Type1 ?) like the Sure Power 952-3A.
Btw, I'll be emailing you from a different email a...
An extra link pin beam was included when I bought 0014. The beam currently on 0014 is an extra wide Warrior type adjustable beam.
I hope I can sell this Warrior type beam off to recup some $ towards the FAV.
The extra T1 beam was already altered by having the top shock mount lugs cut off the...
Another major project are the rear trailing arms, my chassis came with some form of off the shelf 2 shock boxed 3x3 trailing arms:
These have 2 vertical 1/4" plates with only 2 shock lugs. I am going to have to trim off some of the spring plate top surface, then weld on a piece of rectangle...
Eventually I may have to try to recreate the Chenowth-mfg FAV Beam. The 2" OD 0.12" chrome-moly DOM is a given, 5.25" vertical spacing center to center. We know the Wright R&P Mount is about 7" wide, the 4 VW Beam Adjusters are welded in either in line with the R&P bracket edges or at...
For discussion sake, since one day I'll have to try to recreate the FAV beam if an original doesn't turn up, through your investigation into your primary sources and technical breakdown of the FAV beam, is it your professional opinion the FAV beams were manufactured by/for Chenowth from scratch...
Thank you, sir. This is Roger's 0090 carb end throttle cable, I see the quick release type bracket in front of the fan shroud.
Looks like I should fabricate a sheet steel shelf to mount the QR bracket to.
Btw, this black rubber clutch/brake pedal cover should fit your NEALs/CNC:

#10-32 Morse 3C? Throttle Cable: Do you happen to recall the overall length? My mockup suggests 8ft.
Then I have the NEAL pedal, the hex standoff from pedal to the internal spring QR ball joint and front anchor clamp/shim sorted out.
But the carburetor end, does the throttle...
My calculations are a 11.75" wide acrylic blank, 4.75" top 7" bottom.
My bet is they cut a 4ft wide acrylic sheet into quarters then the 40.5" max width (depending on if yours has the flat bar welded to windshield frame or if yours is mounted by the 4 padded P-Clamps)
NEAL Cutting Brake: NEAL/CNC rebuild components unobtanium. A few responses on existing VW/Buggy threads say the other mfg rebuild kit components are not working on the NEAL/CNC parts, specifically the cup seals were mentioned. I bought some AN6226-4 0.625" OD 0.3125" ID cup seals to...
When I googled Girling master brake cylinder one of the top results stated DOT3. My 3 Girlings are either NOS or recent rebuilds.
I have my CNC Clutch slave cylinder line running under the rear torsion tube running parallel with L&R cutting brake lines.
I am not getting good results using a...
Roger said before these are a ficticious item. The US Army M1040 and M1041 FAV never had a data plate installed beyond the Chenowth chassis tag welded to the rocker tube. These may have come about due to MVCC judging rules requiring a data plate, a previous owner with an otherwise perfectly...
I have been having problems with my yahoo email.
I've made progress getting the brake system hardware identified, laying everything out, not adding the DOT3 until after chassis paint. I thought since I have so many fill in the blanks that I would wait on Forest Green paint until the major...
Is that a Short/Quick Shifter block i see?
(No I'm not a rivet nazi, matter of fact I'm messing with Duck Boards for 0014, primarily to keep my heel positioned at the throttle pedal to spare my back pain. I was going to have half piece of tube welded to a flat plate to fit between throttle...
