Wanted to show these new developments I’m working on in the shop. First I’m learning to make replacement door covers, and second custom rear curtains. I’m test fitting the curtain later this month. I’ve made rear curtains before and used an existing pattern, so it definitely fits the c pillar...
Does anyone here have the conversion installed on their M1165 HMMWV that allows you to mount a vinyl cargo cover over the bed?
I have incomplete kits for this that lack the Velcro strips that attach to the rear of the hard top. (I think that’s all that’s missing.)
I’m hoping someone can help me...
Moderators please load this into the TM section or other more appropriate spot (I don't have sufficient permission to upload to TMs area).
Scanned and uploaded here are instructions to install kit 57K4925 which is a conversion kit to adapt an M1165 hard top HMMWV to be able to mount a vinyl...
Many of you no doubt get the same annoyance I do when you go to remove a HMMWV soft door. The little, often weather hardened, door limiter strap has to be wiggled off the door hook. This only SOUNDS easy. Furthermore, the length of throw of the door opening is fixed by the limiter. If you want...
Anyone with a 2- or 4-man HMMWV soft top that wants to mount a bed cover, troop cover, wagon cover (or if you're a MadMountain Military Kool Kid, a Soft Slant Back) has to have a functioning double strip of Velcro along the rear of the soft top. Without fail, the stitching of these tears and...
HMMWV cargo bows are not always readily available locally. Many owners looking to mount a cargo cover have had to deal with the challenges of obtaining bows without having to pay $400 shipping due to them being 7’ wide and 3’ tall. In most cases that’s LTL (less than truckload) truck freight...
If this doesn’t work I’ll make it a dumb box per Tobash and Camo’s thread.
The start box on The Captain’s HMMWV failed unexpectedly earlier this year. We got lucky and picked up a used box nearby at a price we didn’t mind (“I don’t know if this is good or not, up to you.”) For $60 it was good...
Any person who has a HMMWV that has wanted to fit a cargo or troop cover where there wasn't one when it came into his or her possession has had to either look locally and hope for a set of bows or order them and pay extra shipping fees due to the oversize package restriction. In some cases Less...
I will be going to Graves Mountain Rally 2025 and can bring a soft slant back kit and/or sailcloth cargo cover (or more than one) with me if anyone is interested in purchasing one. (Both are for 4-man HMMWV variants.)
I will NOT be driving my HMMWV because it has a blown head gasket (or worse)...
I have added cargo covers to my design inventory alongside soft slant back kits, rear curtains and the occasional special order job.
These are made in sailcloth vinyl, the same material used on Hummer H1 and many, many convertible car tops.
I have black, tan and saddle brown material on hand and...
I am starting this thread to share my progress on designing and sewing new cargo covers for HMMWV 4-seat soft top versions, like my own M998. I also welcome feedback on design requirements and desires from other HMMWV owners here.
This is a new product in addition to my HMMWV soft slant back...
Hello all! I’m glad to say I’m back at my sewing table. During my hiatus I acquired a few hundred yards of milspec pvc vinyl and am learning how to sew it.
Some time ago someone asked me if I could make a flat bed cover but I was stumped by how to join it with the curtain. I’ve since learned...
Has anyone on the forum used an ATK Remanufactured 4L80E in their HMMWV? I had a cooling loop clog and my trans bit the dust a while back. I've been randomly finding time to search for a repair/replacement and this appears the best for the money, especially considering a local rebuilder wants...
I haven't been able to find a thread with a similar issue, so am posting my own: my HMMWV 6.5L TD and 4L80 surges when at idle but in Drive, but only when it is well warmed up. Cold the motor/trans holds idle fine when the transmission is in Drive. When the motor/trans warm up, and I come to a...
I was tracking down a flashing Wait light and figured out it was the grounding wire to my Nartron box. What happened is the rubber mounts for the box had crumbled and then let the bolts slack up. I intended to remove the box (batteries disconnected of course) and add rubber bushings all...
I'm on my second regulator and still not getting 12VDC output. Can anyone tell me if the alternator make BOTH voltages, and needs both regulated, or does it only make 24VDC and the regulator or some other feature in the circuit converts 24V to 12V or something? This is my first dual-voltage...
On the off hand chance anyone knows this, I'm trying to find a replacement male 37-pin connector for a HMMWV 4L80E control box. I've searched various manufacturer's websites and catalogs for Amphenol mil-spec connectors, and found plenty of 37-pin versions, but none with what appears to be the...
Having trouble finding one. AMG doesn't have one, and HPG says the old school A0 one is discontinued.
I'm sure AMG didn't design a heater core just for the M998, and reused something from Detroit.
Anybody know which one?
Bulldogger
Besides Breton Industries, does anyone know the company names of any other military (especially Humvee) soft top and cargo cover manufacturers? I am looking for a company interested in taking over making my soft slant backs. I just don't have time, but hate to think they would die with me (so...
Picked up from CARMAN this weekend. Looking forward to a hopefully quick rehab and putting it to use. Much lighter than my M101 and once repaired will have surge brakes. I’ll be doing some searching here to find the part number for the brake reservoir and master cylinder. Fingers crossed the...
