MTV 1083 front rear axle brakes locked?

Yes sir. I haven't touch anything brake related on this truck. I have a feeling it is the left front actuator(s). Brake pads look good but everything needs a good inspection before I put more miles on it. Thanks for your input.

MTV 1083 front rear axle brakes locked?

I checked the brake shoes on the "front rear" axle today. Only the left side brake is not releasing. All others are fine. Without taking the tire off, I tapped on the inside rim of the drum hoping it would release. No go! I think I will take the tire off and bang on the brake drum with 2# HFT...

Replacing a NHC 250 with new drop in engine

Thanks! This is out in the country so I only have to get county approval on a septic system. I decided to go without utility infrastructure because I have MEP-003A generator. The pad is on the backside of the building with is facing North. I will install a NEMA gutter box back there. The pad is...

Replacing a NHC 250 with new drop in engine

Very good! I will follow this procedure when we pull it into my new shop. I haven't even used it yet. Need to set it up. I built it for MV restorations and equipment maintenance. I will report back with the results.

Replacing a NHC 250 with new drop in engine

Maybe it won't be as bad as it sounds. From they way it sounds it is the 2nd or 3rd cylinder. I think the pinging sound that started in 2023 has something to do with this. Yes, major blow-by I guess? That sleeve might have a hole or crack in it? I think the erratic oil pressure reading started...

Replacing a NHC 250 with new drop in engine

I haven't even tried to diagnose yet. I really don't know much as of now. I believe there is coolant in oil but I will verify again and report back. Have "not" jacked with the fuel delivery. I will follow your advice and start with the oil filter. After that we pull the pan and the head, or...

Replacing a NHC 250 with new drop in engine

I hope some member out there has experience with a drop-in? It would be nice to hear someone's success or failure comments. I will be searching the forum for engine replacement threads. Will be looking at the TMs too.

Replacing a NHC 250 with new drop in engine

So, I ignored a high oil pressure reading for 6 months because I thought I had a faulty gauge. There was a period of time were the gauge was not reading then it came back to life many running hours later. This whole scenario started a year before I lost my engine back in October 2025. I'm going...

MTV 1083 front rear axle brakes locked?

Thank you sir. Do you think pads are stuck to the brake drum or other? Brake chamber piston frozen in place maybe?

MTV 1083 front rear axle brakes locked?

Maybe someone can point me to a thread or quick procedure diagnoses. My 1083 had be parked for 6 months because I had a oil leak on the high pressure line going to the fuel injection pump behind the top of the compressor. I thought we might have the dreaded inner timing cover crack common to the...

    2006 M1097R1 Insurance in Texas

The entire insurance industry needs reforming. So does retail energy. There is no competition. We have to sell ourselves to them instead of they seeking to sell their goods to us. We have to spend hours of our time managing this administrative quagmire each year. We have to do all of the leg...

    2006 M1097R1 Insurance in Texas

No, I have an independent agent. Honestly, I am just like you trying to get insurance at a reasonable cost. It all depends on how it will be used? You can not falsify its intend use. They won't cover you, so don't do it! I just added a MTV back to my commercial policy. They want pictures of all...

    M923A1 Oil Change Intervals

So, after racking my brain on what oil to use in transmissions, I am going with Mobil Trans 30w. It is expensive but probably one of the best you can buy. It won't be changed that often so I will use what is recommended for my dozer(s) transmission. It will be a good fit for the M900 Allison...

    Hard Shifting Tranfer IN/OUT of high/low sometimes - M929/A1 w/Allison

Just an update on difficult transfer shifts. Awhile back I noticed that shifting back and fourth from "high" to "low" was much smoother. I started using my low transfer quite a bit on ranch road repair. It just loosened up as I used it more. Not something that is used very much. Using it made a...

    M923A1 Oil Change Intervals

After reading the comments and talking to my old school mechanic I think I have a handle on this now. Any 15w/40 with Lucas oil stabilizer added for a universal solution. This is for my 800 - 900 series trucks and older model dozers. This excludes gear cases and final drives. I'm sure there will...

    M923A1 Oil Change Intervals

Thank you for your 2 cents. Yes, oils and varying opinions are as cloudy as my 10 gals of fresh lift cylinder oil. I'm not off track on what I have been doing, I just want to feel confident that I'm using the right oils for my application and geographic area. Haven't had any real problems other...

    M923A1 Oil Change Intervals

This is a working M929A1. I haul and pull a a 10K trailer. I have AW32 in the transmission right now and it has been fine. I just want to get away from hydraulic oils if I can use 15w/40 in all hydraulic power systems. If I use motor oil I don't have to worry about mixing hydraulic oils. I have...
