Thanks for the replies! I was not aware of the A1 factory disconnect, but now it does make sense.
So than this is a warning to those that find their LMTV with a simple negative battery disconnect as I did on my A0.
Knowing all this, what disconnect would you recommend?!
However.... there is one other part of the wiring I did not show but exited during the event.
The 12V pickup from in between the two bats was connected to the alternator 12V terminal and not affected by the battery disconnect on the negative side. I do not know if this played any role in this...
Also... when testing post failure (two weeks after fire), I had the 12V pickup cable from in between the 2 batteries disconnected. Straight 24V to the starter primary solenoid. Turning the disconnect to ON would instantly power the starter!
See my post diagram, is how it is wired. Previouse owner installed the battery disconnect between the negative lower battery post and starter negative cable via the shunt. Other then the battery disconnect, that is the OEM wiring.
***** WARNING *****
This could and can happen to any of you!
My alternator caught on fire due to a very rare failure that in my 50 years of working on cars and trucks I never experienced.
Note, the electrical starter/alternator setup (circuitry) of the M1078-A0 is no different then any other...
Is there any one that attempted and/or was successful, or not, installing Rostra Universal Cruise Control on M1078-A0 truck (no ECU)?
I am wondering if the servo is powerful enough to pull on the throttle lever...
Also, what kind of speed signal wave form and strength we get on this truck....
Do not have them yet.. just did a quick Google to verify the part numbers. My AC work will continue later in February. Part of my LMTV camper build project. The Yeti.
The RD part numbers are included on both schematic and harness details.
Charge sensor is just a low pressure sensor PN: RD-5-9165-0. Its a two contact on/off low pressure typical AC switch.
High Pressure switch is more specific as it is 3 wire sensor with reference 5V, ground and signal: PN...
Update!
Attempted to connect with RedDot with no success. Turned to MME, where I bought the newer GEN II unit and pleaded with them to request the diagrams from RD.... success! Got the wiring and harness diagrams. Christal Clear! I see the light.
I am including it here so to help all.
Yes, you are quite correct. I have A0 that did not have AC at all. I was prepaired for that until I discovered that I have two more wires that are not on this diagram: Black/White stipe and Orange. I am guesing it is for the new protector box for some sensors. I am concerned that that...
Does any one know of a diagram for the RedDot GEN II evaporator unit? I am looking for an electrical diagram to figure out the connectors wiring designations. I found one but it shows two 4 pin connectors. I have one 4 pin and one 6 pin.
(the 12 pin plug shown connects with the included...
UPDATE: ... got busy but a the leak fixed... sort off. Line fix was remarkably easy. Thank you General!
Replaced both check valves and new connecting line since the oem was too short.
Before lost pressure in minutes due to the obvious line pinhole.
Now, however, still loosing pressure but...
