I like those crew cabs the best in combination with a 5th wheel. If my M51A2 dump truck would have a longer frame, I would consider it also ----- if I was living in the USA. No way you get this on the road in Europe unless you want to spent a lot of $$$ and time in bureaucracy.
I had not noticed that the MV of the Month for January was cancelled.
I am not so often on the site anymore, too much other stuff going on and no time, no money and too cold to work on my truck. Probably that goes for more people. Nevertheless, I would not stop January; we need to put...
Just a question: where to bug out too?
Now living in the Czech Republic, we occasionally bug out to the nearby salt water wellness and sauna area if things get too stiff here.
Military train logistics in Europe are a nightmare.
At this moment, military transport is at the bottom of the logistics priority list (crazy but true). Cargo and passengers are first, so those military trains have to wait for a hole in the extremely busy European rail traffic. With a mix...
Ferroe, thanks for sharing.
I met John at the one and only GA Rally I ever was able to attend, in 2014.
John's M37 (?) at the 2014 GA Rally. I think it is the same car Ferroe shows in his first post, maybe even at the same time.
In the back at left is the tent of Swiss; I was sleeping...
o_Oo_O Driving this Husky for real through a minefield, you reallllllyyyyy must be very dedicated or crazy,
As they say, does not matter how it looks, as long as it gets the job done.
Living in the Czech Republic, Europe, it gets my vote.
I found a company in nearby Ceske Budejovice (Czech Republic) who can figure it out for me; they do other US MVs and veterans as well. No time to get my filter out yet.
I am restarting to work on my 1965 M51A2 Multifuel.
The truck does not start, almost certainly because of contaminated fuel. I need to replace the fuel filter and clean the tank. Unfortunately, the Dutch company who had lots of Deuce and 5-ton stuff went belly-up, and I cannot find another...
Somebody washed my truck too hot? I really thought I had a big truck, but it looks like a toy on top of this modern container truck. Driving it back from the farm to the camping place.
Transport from the Netherlands to Czechia. The M51, the Atlas 1500 backhoe, and the 1953 NSU Konsul 350 cc...
The DoT had some other remarks, the most important being that the headlights and brake lights are too far from the outside of the truck and the pintle hook not being legal on civil vehicles.
I could get a new "fish-mouth" coupling with a large discount (left). Had a craftsman metalworker...
Typical view from our working place
Officially you are not allowed to mess around with the frame, but DoT agreed that I could assemble a 5th wheel using the strengthened cross beam as basis.
Three friends of my brother occasionally helped me. Here, one of them is drilling the holes...
There is more information on the truck and how we partly restored it in the Netherlands on our museum website (horribly outdated site, I know).
I had know about this truck for some years, but never thought it would be available.
I have to extend the story a bit to explain why and how...
