No, I have been in contact with the museum for the last couple of weeks and they gave me the o.k to camp this morning ( Saturday march 7)the o.k to camp is Friday through Sunday (March 19 through 21)
So being on the museum property, having a chance to walk around looking the exhibits and closer to town etc. was a no brainer for me.
And again more details about where to camp is going to follow because they have not
made the property exhibit logistics set in stone yet.
The minute I find out I will post more.
did tell me there is going to be a different entrance to the facility than in the past
Saturday march 7……..oops

Hi Emmett, thanks for the call yesterday. The SteelSoldiers group has a long history of organizing the rally in College Station separate and apart from the museum. We time it to coincide with the museum‘s Spring time Living History Weekend. That way we can enjoy a convoy and the museum events on the Saturday of our rally. Lincoln (SS member nofearnohope) coordinates with the museum on behalf of our group to ensure proper planning for our arrival and departure on Saturday.

There are people (reenactors, vendors, etc.) that camp at the museum. These people typically participate in activities all weekend long at the museum (Friday - Sunday). As you mentioned, the museum will require people to camp in one location and display their vehicles. Many of us actually camp in our MVs. So parking them in one location and camping in another doesn’t work for many of us. Also, our location offers more flexibility to come and go since we only participate in the museum activities on Saturday and not the full weekend.

Our group’s plans are set for this year’s rally. We’ll camp at the location indicated. Apart from this thread, we started advertising the rally in other places to hopefully increase attendance.

I hope you are able to make it this year and you’ll join us. It’s been a while and I’d love to catch up. If you choose to come down and stay at the museum, please coordinate with them but do not indicate that you are representing the SteelSoliders group. I want to prevent confusion since Lincoln coordinates with the museum on behalf of our group.

I can’t apologize enough if someone thought I was taking over the helm, steeling the thunder or stepping on someone’s toes. Again I apologize.

I can’t apologize enough, I in no way wanted to ”take the helm, steal the thunder or step on anyone’s toes “.
I have not been to the “texas rally “ in a couple of years, so I thought why is the
”group “ staying in a “cow pasture” with one porta potty 32 plus miles away from the main attraction of this “rally”? And on satellite it’s at least 19 miles from the closest
town of any size (Bryan texas) in case one of the “group “ has a mechanical problem or worse.
I thought staying less than 2 miles from a much larger town (college station Texas)
restaurants, auto parts, hardware stores etc. And being in a prepared flat area not so much affected by any possibility of rain. and more than one porta potty.
In my conversations with museum, the going, coming and leaving was discussed for the “group” and was not an issue.
And I apologize for thinking that the group would not have had a problem with helping the museum with moving their equipment, tanks, trucks, artillery etc. I guess I was wrong in thinking the “group”would maybe like that.
Again I can not apologize enough

"The group" decided to put on our own rally, not be part of the museums event.

The convoy to the event is langniappe, not the main event. As far as staying in the "cow pasture", that's part of the fun and a member was KIND enough to let us use his place. If I wanted to stay in a hotel, I wouldn't go to a military vehicle rally.

While I'm sure others in "the group" may not say anything, I will.

You were not part of the planning process, had no input to the plan and have no leg to stand on when it comes to what "the group" does.

I have plenty of opportunity to stay in town with my MVs. What I DON'T have are plenty of opportunities to hang out with fello SS members.

What I DON'T want to do is park my truck in one place and camp in another.

As far as helping the museum move their gear, that is up to the museum to ask, not you to volunteer. You have a lot of audacity to volunteer others time, vehicles and fuel without even discussing it with them. On that point alone I would decline. You don't decide what I do or do not do with my time, trucks and fuel.

It sounds like you're feelings are hurt because "the group" didn't fall in line with your plan.

If you want to organize and plan a rally, feel free to do so.

Don't try to hijack one that the time and effort to organize have already been done.

And coming here being g passive aggressive show a lack of maturity and is the ONE button that will set me off.

If you have something to say, say it. Don't be mealy mouthed and passive aggressive. Not being on the organizational decisions for a rally I would NEVER presume to speak for anyone else or change details.

Admin- if needed, please delete my post and @sue and I can discuss via pm or any other method they choose.

It's less than a week away from the big beautiful 250th anniversary and the 16th annual Texas Military Vehicle Steel Soldiers rally. All the preparations are set and I hope everyone that has indicated they are showing up will show up and enjoy a great turnout this year. Access to the property, it's not just a cow pasture it's my private residence with about 40 acres available for us to camp in. Access to the property will be through a gated entrance, the code will be given out middle of this week. The code will be active throughout the weekend from about 2:00 p.m. Friday through 1:00 p.m. Sunday for entrance into the property throughout the weekend. The entrance of the property will be marked with a steel soldier's Banner as well as four flags at the black pipe gate. If you would also like the physical address of the property please contact me via Steel Soldiers or at my email of 1989olag@gmail.com. if you have any other further questions please reach out to me via Steel Soldiers or the email given. Hope to see everybody there should be a great time as always.
