I was curious if any one here has used a M39 series (50 series) tank off of a 5-ton on their deuce before, or knew if the tank would fit?

If the tank does fit:

1) What modifications are required if any?

2) Are there any major drawbacks to using a 55 gallon 5-ton tank over using a more expensive original 50 gallon M35 tank?

3) What does it look like? How far does it stick out compared to the original?

am just seeing this post for 1st time some reason..

the M809-series 55g's measure 31L x 26W x 18H (including cap and line fittings) .. I believe the M39-series 55g's are identical dimensions but unfortunately I'm 3hrs away from all my M39-series stuff and won't be back there until spring to be 100% sure..

you should have enough vertical clearance on an M35A1/A2 for this tank and the only issue I can presume is how much it sticks out to the side as well it might be very tight to the mudflap and running board/battery box ..

Here's another thing, you don't mention whether you have an M35A0, A1, A2, etc. .. The height will likely not work on deuces with lower rear bodies such as straight (A0 gasser) M34, M35, M49C, nor M109(A0,A1,A2,A3) for example, unless the brackets are moved to a lower spot on the frame
