how the heck are you guys getting insurance on these things? all the places ive checked listed here either wont cover it or only for parades or car shows. thats not gonna work for me. i wanna occasionally tow my boat to the lake with it, go mudding with it, not quite a daily driver but might want to drive it a couple times a week. might even take a trip in it.

so who do you have insurance with and can contact info be posted here?
what type of insurance do you have?
what limitations are there with it?



i even called a few that supposedly specialize in military vehicles and they dont cover them.

Each state is different I have Progressive commercial and can pull trailers weight is 80'000 pounds $ 87 a month

No, I don't use it for hire . I have a 5000 gallon tanker and a wrecker low boy that own that I use . years back I was with Allstate and there was nothing about weight then they started printing 10'000 pounds as a weight limit I asked the agent and she said it was new and not to worry both my 5 ton and 2 1/2 ton trucks where over that empty. I did not feel good about it if I'm in an accident, I want to be covered.

I have Hagerty. I'm in Georgia. They insured my Deuce without batting an eye. Couldn't tell you how much it is because I have several vehicles insured with them and they send me one big bill every year. I assume the usage restrictions are the same as the cars.

When I bought the truck I insured it with State Farm. They also didn't put up a fuss, but then one day they said I had to have a commercial policy, because of the size. I said I don't use it for commerce, it's a private passenger vehicle. They said it didn't matter, don't worry about it. Nope. That's when I switched to Hagerty.

hagerty said i can only use it for car shows and parades. i dont plan on driving it daily but i do plan on driving it. so hagerty doesnt fill the bill. so if your using commercial insurance, are there any draw backs because its commercial?

No. there are commercial policies and commercial USES.
I have a commercial policy for my business for business use.
THEN I have a commercial policy for my MV's that are not for real commercial use.
The guy who set mine up said the weight of the vehicle required a commercial policy...

I'm in California and I went with Progressive and the underwriters are National General. This is for my 1968 M35A2. Unlimited miles. My M35A2 is not limited to parades, events, or other low mileage driving.

Insured for $5000, costs about $205/year which includes membership in their classic car club which offers 100 miles free towing per incident. Limitations work for me now, in the troubleshooting and repair phase, eventually want to tow my boat and go overloading, will cross that insurance hurtle when I get there.

not garaged and actually planning on hauling personal stuff in the bed. plus my boat on occasion and playing with it in the mud on occasion.

Every state is different and no one size fits all.

For example a hmmwv is going to be totally different than a 7 ton.

Best to change title to your specific state if a thread does not already exist for yours. If it does,ask mod to move the thread.

hence the title. but it also seems to change year to year and agent to agent.

Mine is an M35A2 with California historical plates. My registration says that the type of vehicle is an SUV. That's where my insurance treats my vehicle as non-commercial status. Maybe if yours isn't labeled as SUV or close to that, have the DMV possibly recategorize the type of vehicle your M35A3 is. That might help with insurance. I'm assuming the insurance company has to go by the DMV registration.

ok. finally found someone that knows how to deal with MV's at state farm. 39 bucks a month for ky minimums, only limitation is non commercial. the guy was recommended to me by a friend. they have apparently done several mv's . once i get his info, ill post it here for ky people. even includes road assistance. so if i get a flat they can come and change it for me.


geeze would have never thought giving money away would be so difficult
