I've looked at hundreds of photos of M809s, maybe even into the thousand+ but the M815 is an elusive critter. I've only seen this logging variant in the TMs and I'm assuming that the production numbers are quite low.

Anyone ever seen one in the wild?

I was standing beside a buddy the other day while he was flipping through his phone. He showed me a photo of 5 ton truck I hadn't seen before. Not sure what it was and I didn't follow up at the time but I will now.

Meanwhile, this came up on a search for M815 military truck from 10 years ago and New Mexico was the place to go. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/information-about-an-xm815-bolster-truck.147843/ and this cool pic from for anyone else that absolutely needs to see what a bolster truck looks like. https://www.oshkoshequipment.com/products/truckinfo/57/M815

There was a complete one at Memphis Equipment back in 2006 on one of my visits there.

I'm looking for pictures I took on that visit, but they're probably locked inside my old computer that slammed shut many years ago (though I was recently told that might be a minor and easily fixed problem, which would be a blessing!).

Cheers

Yeah, and if you end up with a dead computer - you can buy an adapter that will adapt the disk drive to your desktop computer to download the pictures. I have several different adapters that will connect a laptop drive to your desktop...

Thanks.
She (the computer-fixing lady) said my old computer probably just needs a simple part (driver?) and should work again. It would be great if she can get it going, it has a lot of old programs that my newer one won't run, like my draughting software. It would never get hooked to the internet, so no self updating or eliminating the old ways. If that doesn't work, I'll use the adapters you suggested.

Cheers

PS - okay, for draughting, read drafting, my spelling never really caught up with the American way of doing things. ;)

Good Deal! Yessir, having a computer that isn't "on the web" is a good thing. If it's just a driver - that should be easy enough. Assuming she can find it. I generally load the drivers onto the machine in a folder called "drivers" just so i can find them 10 years later when they have updated them to not work... It takes up space but it is well worth the effort. Yeah, it is duplicated space but the installer is something you've got to have.
