M1101 trailer cover support bows

How much weight will the cover support bows on an m1101 support? A 12 ft kayak perhaps? Thinking about using a mount to carry my kayaks on the sides of the support bows above the bed.

On the sides of the support bows, near where the brackets hold them upright, there is more support for forward/reverse load stresses, so shouldn't be a major issue. Only issue I see is if you're doing it on both sides it might increase your overall width to above the legal limit.
On top might cause some additional stress, but short of emergency stops, extreme acceleration or severe terrain it shouldn't be an issue. I've seen very few trailers in the civilian world with the proper top brackets that would distribute the stress over all of the bow mounting brackets.

BTW, forum rules state:

Another possibility is to do what I did - make some. I found a good industrial electrician (and some of their elaborate conduit runs look like works of art) to bend some inexpensive electrical conduit. It took him maybe 20 minutes to do in his driveway.

The benefits to the conduit is its corrosion resistant, and you can get the kayak down either below or just above the roofline of the tow vehicle (your choice) without hacking up a good set of OEM bows. Because it's common conduit, you can source it from the local home center and there are all kinds of 'extras' for beefing it up or attaching things. For example you can run a bar up along the center to connect the four bows to add some rigidity if you think it's needed.
