Well howdy yall, been years since I've been on here, heck the last time i was here,we were all speculating if the hmmwv would ever get sold to us vs being scrapped.

Anyways, i just picked up a 300,000+ series M1165A1. Had a horrible knock and now its gone, turn out it was the geared fan drive.

Has anyone ever seen one break? If so, is it something i can pull and repair?

Yes. knew a guy who failed to fill it with lube oil and drove it till it failed. It can be dug out from its mounting location.
I know they are spendy to replace.

There is a rebuild kit, but its a seal kit and not a component replacement kit, especially if it’s damaged not replacement items.
I have quite a few GFD’s both used and new in stock.

How much are you looking to get for a new and used unit. Saw some new units prices and frankly it was wild.
well, they are very expensive piece of equipment, new
GFD’s are $4500 from a distributor, I can more then halve that on new and cheaper on used units.
They are heavy and bulky to ship, so factor that price into the equation. GFD’s aren’t from what I see as high failure rate items.
