M925A2 Winch

Hello! Been a while since I posted.

Finally bought a truck. 1990 BMY M925A2. Real nice truck. Works great. It did not come with a winch cable, however. A retired Army CW04 had a 5/8 150 ft cable sitting around that he gave to me. It was just a cable, nothing on it.

Does anyone have a complete list of parts that make a winch cable complete? Thimble? Chain? What else? I have a wire rope company that will swedge whatever I need on it to make it ready to go.

Thanks in advance!

Semper Fi!

If not a parade truck, easiest to tell wire rope outfit what you want and let them supply how they preference, or find a Bosun that can splice cable. Good luck. My truck needed reinforcing in the cab control box and tune up adjustment at control valve under truck. Just FYI if disappointing first run.

Thanks! Not a parade truck, so we did a hybrid of what you said. I told him what I wanted and he told me what he thought I should have and we met in the middle. I took some of his advice and he went with mine.

If you look it up in the -24P, this is what you get.

Got it! Thank you! I was thinking it was just 2 pieces and that’s what I got. Slightly different from the drawing you pulled from the manual. I had them put on a thimble and chain sling rated for the 5/8 cable.

The salesman at the wire rope place, didn’t really believe me when I told him this was how it was set up. I think he was trying to sell me one of his cables instead of swaging his stuff on my cable. But he took care of me, out the door in 30 mins for $144.
