Not how I thought my first deuce would go

I just got my deuce last week and I was on the way to my buddy's garage, and this happened. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to look at it, that should happen later this week. Wanted to see if anyone had some ideas on what could have happened. I've downloaded and started reading the TM's, I'm pretty sure if the previous owner would have been doing any kind of regular maintenance this would have been caught.

Ya think possibly lock-out hub or install contributed? That's one serious bearing failure, especially if no noise/vibration was heard or felt.... usually a hint is given....
The hint came when I made the last turn to get to where I was going, there was a lot of klunking going on underneath the truck at that point. I saw the other post and some recommendations on rod ends, thanks @NDT, since I get to use a lift and actually have some space to work, are there other safety and/or QOL improvements I should be looking at for the front-end? I'll drive it once or twice a month. I'm sure it always comes down to money, I'm probably looking at 2k tops in parts. Luckily, we swap labor so that is covered.

This is an expensive hobby no matter what anyone tells you. Things break every time you take out to use and then there is the list of those things you really want to do but never have time.

@HDN As soon as we jacked it up enough today, the wheel fell over. Looks like I'm buying a new spindle and I can only imagine that the previous owners didn't do a lot of maintenance, so I got a full axle overhaul kit with bearings for the front. Checking out the rear axles later this week. A couple pictures of the disaster.

That's amazing. It's a miracle that the wheel didn't fall off sooner. I've never seen a wheel bearing failure like that before. Thank you for sharing pictures (y)
