Many of you no doubt get the same annoyance I do when you go to remove a HMMWV soft door. The little, often weather hardened, door limiter strap has to be wiggled off the door hook. This only SOUNDS easy. Furthermore, the length of throw of the door opening is fixed by the limiter. If you want the door open farther, you have to unhook the limiter. Similarly, the limiter straps wear with age and once torn have to be replaced by buying the entire assembly for a hefty price considering all you want is the strap.
I have made a prototype replacement door limiter strap based on heavy-duty milspec webbing, with added Velcro strips so it can be both removed and repositioned readily. It can be easily removed OR changed in door opening throw. I look forward to using this on my HMMWV.
