General torque spec./ values, based on size, thread type, and grade, are readily available. Even listed in older Chilton's and Motor books. I'd go by those if jammed up. American car shop manuals used to list them also. Probably to save noting spec for every bolt- like thermostat housing screws and the like. Good luck. Great reason to save older CRC and similar Handbooks.

I did not see this before, and I wanted to thank you for responding! I always appreciate, and am blown away, when people take the time for little, uninformed, beginner in the military vehicle scene, me! To be honest, I am a little intimidated to ask questions here, because, not only am I uninformed, next to others with VAST knowledge, but sadly I am also not too good at the skills of research online, and navigating computers and how the threads here work. I'm the student in class, sitting at the back of the room, hoping, praying, the teacher doesn't call my name. lol I am a fabricator and old mechanic, and in practice I can and have fixed anything I set my mind too. But somethings are too important and too easy to F'up, without prior knowledge. Do I want to be going down grade at 60 mph and ten tons and when I hit the brakes it doesn't stop after I just replaced the master cylinder? No. I Am pretty careful, but you get my intention. However, if anyone has any questions about '60's Pontiac's, I consider myself one of the last few people that knows almost everything about them. Every nut and bolt I have turned. Anyway...Thanks again! BTW...I found the torque specs and it was 50% over what I was told by a very well trusted vendor..
