Squeaky brakes...

My M1152A1 with solid rotors are like fingernails on a chalkboard . I believe I read somewhere on here that these pads are "harder" and thus make noise. I also believe that someone said you can used the pads that are used on vented rotors and they are some what quieter. However I can not find this thread. Am I hallucinating (quite possible) or is there some truth to this? If so can you use civi pads and get them from the local auto parts store?

There is also the issue where when I brake hard and on dirt roads it does not stop straight... maybe a stuck caliper? any ideas where to look?

Did you chamfer your brake pads’ leading and trailing edges?

I haven't done anything to the brakes other than a visual inspection. They are used and as came from the military. If I am going to take the pads out I want to replace them. Didn't know if I need to order or if I can go to local parts store. Also wanted to see if my memory was right about the solid vs vented rotor pads.
