Once you've "met" one; how could you not love 'em?!!
To this day (and it's been a while), one of my all-favorite noises is:
- the sound of a Deuce "zip" starting, by an air-starter
- and then the sweet whistle of that turbo-charger as she pulls out, to wherever she's headed...

This week I will be checking all the fluids and checking tires then fill it with fuel and taking it to our local air museum for Vietnam week, my truck will be on display for the week along with 5 other era correct vehicles from our MVPA chapter in ND. It will be fun to get it out of the shop and on the road again!

I finished this one today. 87' Airforce with the split brakes, A3 rims with 395's, FDC bypass, etc.. the works. I know that power steering has spoiled me in my other trucks but slamming gears in a deuce really brings me back.

Just got mine back from being pained. It's cold and rainy so the Fire Chief let me use a bay to put on the stencils I got for it since I'm putting it in the Veteran's Day parade. I screwed up and put the big star for the hood on the passenger door, so I'm just going to order a new star and go without one on the hood for now. Still got 4 tires and wheels to swap out, have to mount the front fenders for the duals, the parts for the spare tire bracket, and the pioneer kit rack. After the parade, my next goal is to go through every axle, new seals, lube, etc. I also need to do an oil change, and fix a small oil leak. I'll paint the axles when I go through them too.

It's not museum quality, but it will look damn good in a parade. A few minor dings and dents, but no significant rust. Once I get the undercarriage cleaned up, I'll be much happier.

put new lines on wheels from the hollow studs to the valve. and now ctis sounds like a pissed off bull when it trys to figure out the pressure int the tires.

I thought I would take moment and post my upgraded brake fluid reservoir. I wasn’t happy with having the plastic remote reservoir for the brake fluid because I felt like plastic didn’t look right under the hood. I had been losing a small amount of brake fluid for a while and wasn’t sure at first where it was going. I ended up replacing my airpack because my brake pedal started to not feel quite right and while doing this I lost a lot of brake fluid, so I thought it would be a good time to upgrade my remote reservoir. Looking online I saw some metal remote reservoirs, but they were quite expensive and not exactly what I was looking for. The homemade reservoir that we made was made out of steel square tubing with flat stock that was machined to be welded into the bottom and top. The top and bottom each have a hole drilled into them and we silver soldered a brass cylinder that we had cut threads into. We then drilled the sides of the square tubing and soldered two more threaded brass inserts we made that would be for the sight glass. We also had to make a bracket for the body of the reservoir so we could attach it onto the firewall under the hood of the truck. After the reservoir was made we had to make a cap for it too. We made this out of aluminum hexagonal barstock and turned it down to be threaded the same as the brass fitting on top of the reservoir and drilled a small breather hole. We then engraved the top of the cap. After all this we Cerakoted the reservoir and cap and connected the sight glass to it. We also put an O-ring on the cap to keep it from leaking.
After all this we were still having some trouble with the brake fluid disappearing and came to the conclusion that it was leaking from the master cylinder cap. The copper washer needed to be replaced and we tried heating it to temper it, but it still didn’t stop the leak. We then ended up making a new cap for the master cylinder as well and used an O-ring to seal it. This finally seemed to do the trick and the truck isn’t losing brake fluid anymore.
After all this we were still having some trouble with the brake fluid disappearing and came to the conclusion that it was leaking from the master cylinder cap.
