I am contemplating installing some counterweights on my excavator. I saw a neat installation using 1" steel plates. I want to make it similar but using lead as weights.
Lead is a "toxic" substance i Illinois where I am. Pb weighs more than steel, hence equal weight would take up less space. How much weight are you looking to add? Access to frame mounts available for ya?

250 to 300 pounds. (California considers EVERYTHING toxic) I remember using lead and ocum for cast iron sewer pipes before PVC came out.

Someone near me is selling them in big blocks 50 to 100 pounds each. $1.25/pound.

There is a thick steel plate that supports the cab, engine and the excavator arm. That should be able to support the weight and counter some of the weight of the excavator arm.

Price is a bit high, but supply and demand still functions well....here it would probably be even more....
