There are multiple people that have bought trucks just for parts.
Then they realized their parts truck only needed a few things to get it up and running, and in better condition than their original truck, so they end up buying yet another parts truck to fis the first parts truck.
It's a slippery...
If you have the correct part number, then most of them can order it.
Your serpentine belt length will be determined by which pulley you have on the alternator; as one version is larger than the other thus increasing the length of the belt.
Mine is an earlier truck with a different belt...
The stock idler pulleys are all rebuildable with basic tools.
Snap ring pliers and whatever wrenches needed to remove them.
Your local auto parts store will have the bearings in stock.
2 bearings per idler pulley
Never going alone out into the boonies is usually rule #1, but too many people ignore it.
most of us don't have a second NATO vehcile that we can boost from off road.
I will say though with the introduction of the cheap lithium jump pack that part doesn't really matter.
I do standby generators...
for batteries there are several schools of thought.
Some people are purists and will insist that you require the 6T series batteries for the truck. The flooded version only has a 6 month specialty/commercial warranty and are several hundred dollars. Most auto parts stores don't keep them in...
DEX VI replaced DEX III in the manuals (which replaced DEX II). It is backwards compatible in trasmissions.
In all other applications GM recommends sticking with DEX III.
The military doesn't mind a little higher failure rate if it means they only have to stock one fluid instead of two or...
There is one real advantage to using LED for the brake lights. The OEM brake light switch isn't really that great, and has a higher failure rate than it really should due to the overly complicated design. Using LED bulbs does reduce current and helps the brake switch last longer.
So sounds...
I was under the impression that speedy sleeves were for the seal surface, not for inside bearing races.
To me there does appear to be more than enough surface to properly install a new inner bearing race, just needs the old surface cleaned up a little bit so it will go on smoothly.
If all you...
I went into my local hydraulics shop, and got an off the shelf fitting from them. Standard hydraulic disconnect, not application specific like the one for the HMMWV (they looked up the part number on the fitting and the book said it was for the HMMWV). They could order the specific...
These are older diesels, with looser tolerences.
They accumulate a lot of exhaust gas byproducts into the oil.
To remove those byproducts, you have to change the oil.
The main benefit of synthetic oil is it doesn't break down as fast.
This means it doesn't need to be changed as often.
This...
Two things to note.
1) Unless something changed, it should be 7/16" wrenches/sockets, not 11mm. 11mm is close, but the bolts in that area should be standard.
2)Once you remove the shift assembly once, it's a good idea to go ahead and install rivnuts in the holes if you don't already have...
Hard top trucks can have the mirrors mounted either way.
Soft top trucks, which have the fold down windshield, should have them mounted onto the windshield only (upper location) for if the windshield gets folded down.
At least, that is why I would assume they don't just mount them all lower
Money. Lots of money.
As far as I know you'd first have to turn it into a 4 door hard top, as the 2 door cab isn't long enough to mount a turret bearing (or if it is there is nowhere to stand properly due to the engine doghouse being there)
If it's not made for the HMMWV, then you'd likely...
On the sides of the support bows, near where the brackets hold them upright, there is more support for forward/reverse load stresses, so shouldn't be a major issue. Only issue I see is if you're doing it on both sides it might increase your overall width to above the legal limit.
On top might...
These doors are specific to the BEOD and the SECM type truck bodies. They have a lip on the upper edge that puts them behind the roll down door, sealing out weather and securing the door from opening when the roll door is down.
If you just have the filler panel, then yes, that area is going to...
