1: there is a plumbing plug fitting on the pack, and a deuce pack requires lube inside that location..
2: there's a bunch of talk about lubing the pack on this Site
3: as Will mentioned, sometimes a good hard stomp on the pedal (it's advised not to do while rolling) pops them free , but it's...
the only thing better than an A2 remotored with a mack is an original A1 , but i certainly would take an A2-to-A1 upgrade any day !! A unit I was with for the longest time had a number of A2's sporting the mack , including this one with M52A2 on the dash tag but you can clearly see what I am...
make yourself some safety braces and/or blocks to use whenever you're working under it raised ... A 5ft section of heavywall 2" steel pipe can do a good job as a support in the meantime ..
Before lifting, one thing you should always check is the condition of the subframe around the rear hinge...
I can confirm this, SAE20 and SAE30 was the called-for motor oil used in hydraulic systems right up thru the 1950's in trucks, farm equip, industrial, and construction equip .. All my 1950's dumps, tractors, and dozers are still using it ..
In the 1980's i drained the SAE30 out of my loader...
Here's a 5T up for municipal auction this week , it was apparently a M51 or M52 which they sat a 2-1/2T cargo bed upon .. Here's what that looks like, for anyone who wishes to know .. BTW, it's located in the northeast
Which brings up another visual point from when I had a M49C tanker body...
IIRC, the gasser M54's in motor pools I had worked out of in the 1970's-80's had an exhaust pipe extension dumping out between the RH tandems..
(however, the M51, M52, M139, and M62 gassers I either own or were in the motor pools of my day had the exhaust pipe coming out between the RH front...
am just seeing this post for 1st time some reason..
the M809-series 55g's measure 31L x 26W x 18H (including cap and line fittings) .. I believe the M39-series 55g's are identical dimensions but unfortunately I'm 3hrs away from all my M39-series stuff and won't be back there until spring to...
when i was about 14 or 15 a hired hand of one of the farmers down the road had a hydraulic hose mishap which injected oil into his arm and it subsequently killed him .. It was my educational wakeup as just a month prior my father bought our first piece of (used) equipment that had a hydraulic...
yep that tank was sure a mess ! .. Always had a coating of rust and crud inside, had to have a new filter every time it went to work. The dust control concoction the town carried in the big plastic tank that was on its back rotted everything it touched on that truck , was worse that they...
Being you've installed two batteries, the intake manifold heater's feed wire (#569) attaches to the positive-post clamp of your 12V battery closest to ground , ie; the one whose negative post goes to the truck frame .. This guarantees you will only get 12V to the heater .. 24V will burn it out
I recall only one starting a little hard in winter, it was the XO's jeep which some of us got to "steal" on rare occasion.. Certainly not as hard-starting as a M809-series in the cold !
yep, my '58 M35 has a mix of the old rounds along with newer "I" beam type .. My 1963 M49(A2)C received new I-beam doggies when it was upgraded to A2 status .. I am also concerned with the steering drag-link-type design of these supposed dogbone replacements , you and i both know how well...
Hmmmm .. I did not know beer was available in Westdeutschland
When i was little my father pointed to the steins up on the shelf and said "Wasserkruge"..
I believed him.
I am not as gullible now, thus i think bier may have been involved with 1946 picture below because...
