Well heck. I modified my google search a bit and found this: https://www.easternsurplus.net/PartDetails/12421/FM-627-Top-Bumper-Hoisting-Link-Lift-Tool-FMTV-LMTV
4910-01-434-6814 LIFT TOOL, TOP
BUMPER (65459)
9-807-010048
And I now see it in the TM -10-2 under Components of End Item lists...
Ran across a couple of these brackets. Seller said they belong to an FMTV as lifting hooks but I cannot find them in any TM as I don't really know what to even look for. What do you think they belong to?
Very nice. I do admire your push to replace the mosfets but before you dig too hard into them, can you post close up pics of each one? I'm dubious that all three failed in same manner as indicated by the little chip/ding/mold ejector knock out in the center. Usually a blow out is seen by...
Thanks, I understand what an M1083 is vs an M1087. I'm asking to move an M1083 that has an equivalent of a camper mounted on top. There are many people out there that attempt to build overlanders with tiny homes on an M1083 family frame. The height is the issue for moving it.
Thanks for the feedback. The problem (or reason I'm interested in it) is this truck has a camper mounted on back so it's pretty tall, like just over 12 ft tall just sitting there, thus the need for an RGN. I've never heard of a step deck being that low to stay under 14 ft overall but I'll ask...
Truck will be ready for pick up in a week or so but looking for an RGN. Truck has camper box and is length 33ft and 12ft, 5" tall. Standard width. I know height is an issue so I expect to let air out of tires as this is how truck was transported to sale site. We may even sit truck on low...
I appreciate the input so far but I feel like I squirted the wrong freq hop into my SINGARS for this post . Let me try again:
Everything I know is from searching the internet so I was hoping those in the know might be able to confirm/deny some of my understanding. For light trucks, like HMWWV...
Yes, I know but most of it here is old info. With the latest lessons learned in Ukraine and the current administration, I'm looking for today's situation and planned outlook. If I missed a post with this kind of recent understanding, feel free to direct me to it.
I think it's safe to say there's been a pretty large shift in battlefield doctrine over the past few years so I'm curious to know what folks think is the current status of the HMMWV regarding longevity and numbers in the military. Seems like some of the newer things like the JLTV is being...
I hear ya and have 'been there done that' with other people's shite they left in theater. I don't think we'll have another 20 year war in the near future and SBE (stay behind equipment) will be a thing of the past. If anything, the next time will be like Desert Storm with a massive "all in" at...
I agree, it was the exact same 52 years ago. And that's completely the problem that I think should be discussed. Back then, there was no economical solution to add crap loads of sensors to a vehicle and then have a computer monitor it real time to advise the operator/maintainer of issues that...
It is and it isn't a horrible idea. All depends on how it's implemented. If the data and control systems are essentially on the same network like we have on our civilian vehicles, then yeah, it's probably pretty bad because the control systems are more than likely vulnerable when you access...
That's what I figured. I remember when laptops came out for aviation. It took a while but pretty soon each aircraft had a dedicated laptop to enter in all the info. We still had paper forms (2408's, I had to google it cuz it's been so long) that we filled out but the mechanics then had to...
For those still in turning wrenches or at least knowledgeable on the subject, I'm curious how the military is using electronic data to maintain it's HMMWV fleet. I'm referring to how they actually getting data from the vehicle and not the behind the scenes data analysis done echelons above the...
I would say it depends on where you're located. Up in MD, yeah, you need to verify they all work. Down here in central TX, not as much. As far as when to replace them, I'm in the "I live south so I don't touch them if I don't have to" mentality.
What's probably more important is verifying...
