That ladder is functional but badly bent sadly.
I’m sure Jack’s Gov’t Surplus about 1hr away from this one has plenty of those ladders and crank though.
About the roughness getting into gear, I figured it could be:
- Low oil in the transmission
- New transmission
- The gears are actually grinding
The owner was very detailed and keeps the truck in top condition even making sure the tires have good pressure when he’s not driving, so I find it...
The next day I drove 4hrs to New Mexico, tested a deuce and had some bomb mexican food.
This 1965 M35A2C ($15000) is high on my priority list because it is used a lot. It’s used to haul wood in negative digit temps in the winter and tow his 33’ camper in the summer, He has also towed another...
The tan truck isn’t necessarily a BAD truck, but it’s been neglected for years. Even the owner didn’t care much for it and the vehicle showed neglect. Just as a comparison I saw those 2 Deuces in Los Angeles only asking for $1500 more on my first day and both had everything working and have been...
Guys after these days I’ve met so many deuce and 5 ton owners and they are all such nice people! Makes me feel like what was I doing with my life all these years?
Yesterday I got to drive my first 5 ton and I can definitely see how the steering assist makes it much easier to drive and better...
Okay I went to look at a daily driven 5 ton today and it was really nice, I’m heavily considering that platform now I’ll upload more details on that one soon.
I’m headed 4hrs into New Mexico today to check out another deuce.
I made the 400 miles to Tucson! Unfortunately Jack from Jack’s Gov’t Surplus isn’t gonna be at the shop for a few days but I hope to meet him this weekend. I will be looking at his M35s and 939s. I also drove by the GovPlanet Auction Lot and as usual they had the LMTVs and the Hummers.
The one...
I totally agree about talking to them first, especially since I’ve never owned a MV so I rely almost only on other people’s experiences. I highly appreciate you sharing yours! That’s an invaluable comparison right there. The truth is that, for the right reasons, I’m totally open to considering a...
I’m headed 400 miles through Quartzsite, and Phoenix tomorrow all the way to Jack’s Gov’t Surplus in Tucson. Gonna check out a deuce on my way there as well. Wish me luck! If i’m too tired I’ll just post next day.
Absolutely! Today was my first day driving a deuce and I fell IN LOVE with the truck. It just hugged the ground and it moved around so easy, I’m so glad I decided for this truck it felt like a horse that would just take you over stuff and wanted to just go!
I just got home it was a looong day...
Wow that sounds amazing thanks for the tip! I will actually be making my build just 140miles away from there in Clearlake so I could definitely make it my first trip.
Now I just need to buy a truck and get it long distance worthy in less then a month!
Hi folks! I’ve been a lurker for 3 years, this forum is such a pool of knowledge and a friendly community.
I live fulltime in a 1985 Fleetwood Jamboree RV mostly in CA and AZ and am finally ready to build my dream home on a Deuce! Not sure if I’m going with the m109a3 shop van or with a bare...
