Thanks cucvrus, you are correct I want to re seal them. Auto correct was incorrect! Reason for me going with gaskets is I did the rear about a year ago with just rtv because it was leaking, and it has a minor leak again. I will investigate those rear outer seals. 80-90 gear oil does seem to be...
Prepping my m1009 for an Iowa to North Dakota hunting trip. And all the stuff I wanted to do anyway! So far new springs, shocks, steering stabilizer, alignment, complete weatherstrip kit, hitch, license plate light, trailer wiring/brake controller. New belts Doghead mod and resistor bypass were...
Jozseph, wish I would've done that to begin with! I was feeling bad about Internet shopping and decided to get my axle u bolts and front shackle bushings local. Got off work at about 715pm Wednesday, disassembled front springs wed night. Thursday morning I drove to town. I have been to all 4...
Hey guys I searched here and the Internet but my results were flooded with U bolt re use debate. New u bolts for me, but my main spring eye bolts are in great shape. Are they torque to yield, are they a one time use or not?
To to make this post minorly interesting, so far an hour and a half in...
I am tryin to thread the needle with this rig, on the K5 body I like the low lift bigger tire combo. If 2" lift is what it takes that's fine, but if I can run 32x12.50s with 1" even better. If I go to a 2" I'll probably just buy a complete spring kit as I'm not sure how great my right rear is...
Sorry if this has been covered, I did multiple searches but not quite what I'm after, lots of info on running 32s but 10.50s, advice on trimming etc.... Anyway I'm wanting to run 32x12.50s on original wheels. I also do not want to cut on my fenders. What I'm viewing as options are ORD zero...
319 - that is the exact same antenna I have used! Zero stations, I have tried with both the 12v power to it and without. It is mounted low on the windshield tho just above the dash. Ground is very good, I made a new clean one myself.
Thanks for the help guys. Didn't expect much out of that antenna but I didn't figure it was incapable of getting a single station! I will upgrade antenna, and move on.
It's a wing shaped antenna with (poor quality) two sided tape on the back. I have it connected to the back of the head unit and wire running up through the dash. I have it stuck somewhat discreetly on the inside bottom of the windshield. Sorry for vague info, been very busy at work lately...
Appreciate the wisdom AC, I'm pretty sure it's not shorted out both are brand new but they are not big. They are simple stick on the windshield antennas. Anything you would recommend to get me the local AM stations?
Hey guys, I'm on my second cucv that I've put a radio in. On both I've added a 12v powered antenna and neither have been able to pick up a single station. So what gives? Is there some sound suppressor or something that's messing the signal up, or are the antennas junk?
Best repro sheet metal I've used in my bodywork days was made by Goodmark. That said its still repro metal and takes some fitting but usually far better than others. That said I heard they got bought out and their quality has dropped but I cannot verify that.
OP, consider the replacement headlight kits that convert your sealed beam to a 9006 halogen bulb. I am forgetting what brand it was I put in but it was top tier, possibly lightforce. Anyway my headlights were terrible. I put in the LMC harness and the headlights ($60) with some middle of the...
Depending on what you want to spend on them, I'd get them zinc plated. I'm not sure if powdercoat will go over zinc, I'm pretty sure it will. Ideally to me I would zinc them and powdercoat them if possible, double layer of corrosion protection especially with the zinc dip getting the interior...
I used to be through that area all the time, need to update my info I moved back to northwest Iowa. Hometown, all our family is up here so we were going back and forth all the time. Wasn't the easiest with an infant. Back near Okoboji now. Someone around here has a desert tan m1009, pretty good...
Thanks guys. Decided to just pull the trigger on some Milemarker 104 stainless hubs. I didn't like the idea of all that chalky corrosion near my bearings. Times aren't that tough, 75 bucks for new hubs won't break me. Appreciate everyone's help!
Good point fellas. Some good rtv around the outside and a new oring should make it sufficient. I'd still be interested in recommendations on new hubs. If they aren't too spendy I'd still consider just replacing them, it would calm that OCD voice in my head lol.
Ok guys, got the drivers side pulled apart tonight no big deal. Found it had some crud in there that was preventing it from disengaging. However I'm not that lucky! The aluminum body of the hub was corroded enough that there is no way it will ever seal, even with a new o ring. So I'm just going...
Thanks guys. I'll try to take a look at it soon, would already be apart but I didn't get my shop insulated in time for winter this year. Maybe next year it will be warm and toasty lol.
