CUCV Combination Valve/Brake Bleeding Tools

I’m curious about 2 different brake tools used for bleeding CUCVs. (I may have a follow up post about bleeding).

The TM says to use the Kent-Moore J-23709 Combination Valve Depressor Tool. All of the YouTube videos I have viewed show guys using a Brake Proportioning Valve Bleeder Tool. I’m thinking the Brake Proportioning Bleeder Tool is a newer tool.

Is one better than the other? I know one screws into the top in place of the sensor and the other mounts on with a bolt and is configured to the side of the combination valve.

I use a pressure bleeder that hooks on top of the master. Don't need any of those other tools.

I have the same basic set up as linked above except made by Motive Products.

Using a pressure bleeder if the proportioning valve is in its normal position. Then nothing pushes it over to one side so no special tool is needed.

Yeah I think that first tool is to hold the valve if you had a line puncture.

I like my vacuum bleeder but I've done that, 2 person pump, and the little catch can with the check valve in it all with good luck.

I have the motive one as well but these other companies started making them cheaper in price. Plus they come with a catch bottle too.

I've got a vacuum one too. They don't like to work on wheel cylinders...it'll suck air past the lip seals in them plus it'll activate that proportioning valve. Trying to do the foot thing is absolutely horrible. It kinda works but so slow. That 70$ for that pressure bleeder will make you sleep at night it's so easy.

Just changed the drivers side front line on my m1009 and gravity bled, haven't test drove yet, this thread has me bumming out

If you gravity bleed for awhile then do a couple of 2 man pumps will work good. Only time that hasn't worked for me is if the master ran dry. Then I'll just use the vacuum and flush a ton through without bench bleeding.
