Optilube xd is the best out there for our pumps, even better than the stanadyne.

A very, very close second is TCW3. It's a 2 stroke marine oil and has a ton of lubricity additives in it.

For keeping things clean, with a little extra power I use power service, and an occasional tank of techron for diesel.
Ya i don't normally run anything in my Humvee or vw TDI motor's but my new truck with the bosch CP4 pump always gets Opti-lube XL in the summer which is just for adding lube more than there XDP product which is what I'm running now that its winter.

As it comes out of the pan it's already been filtered to 20 micron.
and depending on your setup, either a 2 or 10 micron fuel filter.

Also, WMO has submicron contaminants that should, optimally, be centrifuged out - but barring that, at bare minimum, filtered and polished to 1 micron ( I use a .5 micron final sock filter).

Motor oil also has a metric #%(& ton of dispersants and detergents, which will clean out your lines and tanks - so good luck getting 40 years of gunk out of your tank and into your lines.

Carry a spare fuel filter if you're gonna run WMO - at absolute bare minimum.
