S6 is the item selecting what terminals you are reading on the gage. If it runs and it seems in order and you are receiving about 480VAC at the load terminals using a DMM, you should be in business... The member stating the spring was for shipping was 100% correct. Static discharge during air shipping and the manufacturer and PM MEP is why it is there. It is not a very good spring either even though it looks like one. Conducts and looks good though.

Here is a funny for you. Actual event in a duck hunter unit with their CORPs commander yelling at me over the phone just before the unit called. That spring used for shipping: In the original box there was a small thin paper a moth could have destroyed and it usually fell out, saying to remove it, and I only ever saw one of those papers, but I got a call from a rotational unit asking for parts info for that spring because it burnt up and caused S6 and wiring issues as well after they installed the new meter and was asking why in the usual high nosed voice. Told them to get another voltmeter and this time remove the spring and use the spring, as it is complimentary and goes with the can of ACME black out drive in LT land, and is not used on the generator, and it is used to add the fluid to their BO lamp...:).

The Warrant on the other end of the phone got the general idea, because he also asked for other really stupid things like POL products from a guy in an office building 5,000 miles from him who had no account or way to get anything to them, and about his muddy looking fuel causing his generators and vehicles to die when the fuel carriers, who were local hires in a country in the middle of Africa.

The fuel issue was rectified in country from inspectors that were being paid off not to look. Someone snitched on them like me to the DLA folks paying for the fuel. He could have done this in a day in person, but from me to trickle down it took 3 months on line using AI and computer communications.
