Going 5 ton zby advise

Sold my deuce and half Sunday and going 5 ton.
Juice seems to make more sense. 1986 truck 5 ton m939, cummins, power steering, Allison transmission. New 49 inch tires. Clean title and drive 10k.
Anything I should double check before purchasing?
Has a winch to. Has paper work saying in 1991 military overhauled and went thur the whole rig before he purchased it

Congratulations on the sale... I think if it runs and stops, it should be good. Already done the tire upgrade, so you should be good. Again, It should start right up and stop when you step on the brakes.

Yes sir already did test drive. Will post pics later this week. Time i added up the $$$ to do power steering to a deuce and upgrade tires/rims it just didn't add up to. Plus already has a winch to

Check the dogbones and make sure you are not going to get a surprise when you drive off.

You know what we mean about the 'dogbones" - Right?
Meaning the Torque Rods?

They can come apart. Walking the axle one way or the other...
Need to be looked at.

A 1986 M939 5-ton with Cummins and Allison is a solid choice, especially with power steering and newer 49” tires. A few things I’d double-check before buying check transmission, brakes, suspension, winch, wiring, and frame for rust. Verify the 1991 overhaul paperwork and inspect fluid levels. A test drive under load is ideal to make sure everything runs smoothly.

thanks guys. Worked on big rigs for 14 years been wanting to move from my 2.5 ton deuce to 5 ton for a long time. did check over the paperwork from 1991 overhaul and fluid changes. picking up in about a week. Owner even hooked up his 40 ft gooseneck and loaded it down. Didnt even know the trailer was back there really lol. Dog legs look good. Posting pics as soon as i can.
I hear insurance anit bad on these either
