has anyone tried to put a semi power steering box on an m35a3 and get rid of the air assist? the air assist just seems like a large target for a rock. seems a semi power steering unit would be more than adequate. my biggest concern is would you have to use a separate pump or can you use the onboard pump?

am i nuts and way out of the ballpark or?????

Which is normal...

If you keep cranking the wheel, the air gets used.
You might even get 'parked' if the air gets too low.

That it does. Waiting on some parts for another leak. Slowly replacing the plastic air fittings with brass.

Yessir. Leaks will kill your air pressure - especially if it is borderline.
I would try to stay with DOT approved air lines and fittings.
Especially if you have an accident...

I hope you're getting good brass fittings from a reputable seller. I took a couple off the CTIS wheel components on my truck that had small cracks in them that were leaking air - a 90 degree flat-sided fitting and an inline filter. I guess AM General cheaped out on them
