M116A3 trailer with tore up inner bearing race that I can't get off

Picked up the new axle today. Deal I made with seller was that I would pick it up myself at the dock (about 45 miles away). Not a bad deal given what I got it for.

Rated for 2.5T, the trailer is quite underrated at 1T it seems:



Matches the old one perfectly:



Spindle is nice and straight compared to the old droopy one!



New bearings are here as well, so now I just need to find the time to get everything cleaned up, painted and re-assembled.

Consider using a polyurea based grease instead of lithium. They're superior for rolling bearing applications. They haven't caught on at the consumer level. Lucas X-Tra Heavy Duty is the only one I see at auto supply shops. I use Chevron Black Pearl EP2 in my fleet.

The bend didn't look that bad until sitting next to a brand new axle.
Worse than I initially thought.
Glad you found a new one.

Would you mind sharing what you paid for the axle?
Private or commercial seller?
It will help others in the future for sale price reference.
If not, that's fine too.

I paid $500 for the axle from a commercial seller on eBay. He had it listed for $595, but I got him down to $500. He specialize in military gear and currently has about 2,500 items listed.

I'm sure if I had gotten lucky and found one on GP, it would have been a lot less, but I would have had to be real lucky to not only find one, but also one that was close by.
