I'm no authority on V8 retros.

I did a very successful repower with a Detroit 3-53. Also ate to pieces 13 R&P sets in the rear axle over 200Kmi. Never broke one, just wore them out.

Roller, was your 360 a Magnum?
We're your exhausts Magnum?
If so, were they the large diameter 92 exhausts, or the later, smaller ones?
Did you have adequate frame clearance for the exhausts?

I used a slant six bell housing from a 1962 W200 Crew Cab when I installed my 318. That was about 1968-69, and the details are a bit foggy now.

Not a magnum, 1978 truck engine.

Never got to 111 personally... pretty sure 78 was fast enough. Just in case anybody else is reading this and considering shattering the M37 landspeed record, I'd suggest... not. Every time I get in the M37 and look down at what looks like cat claws protruding up from the floor pan, I pat down my legs and count my blessing that I still have them attached and in working order.
