My son broke the knob off my start switch. I was able to find a Kraus & Naimer C11 operator on eBay; hoping to replace the shaft. I put the new shaft in, but somehow got the cams misaligned. Three days much frustration later, I finally got it. During the process I had requested a quote from Electroswitch for a 75902LV. $335.93 6-8 wks ARO. ...just in case anyone is interested.75902LV.JPG

Electroswitch will not provide any quantity pricing on this part... I've already asked. And got quite the cold shoulder in doing so (took a half dozen emails to ascertain this, and they still haven't replied to my last).

Its too bad, I had good service from them in the past.

You have to wonder sometimes at the ways folks try to operate businesses.

Bummer.

All the best, 2PbFeet

I've got a customer who had one of his workers break the shaft off on his 803 a little while ago, I was looking for a new switch, but don't think he's in a position to throw ~$400 at it, so what exactly did you end up doing? Bought a C11 and swapped out the inner shaft and cam's? Is that what you're saying?

I swapped the shaft from the new C11 into the old. You gotta be real careful to keep pressure on the stack of contacts and the C11 positioner. I didn't, and springs and lifters? (the things that ride on the cams) went flying. Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly! It took me days of fiddling to get everything back in synch. I Put Scotch tape around each subassembly as they were completed to prevent another RUD.IMG_2917.jpg

By the time he pays me to put up with that aggravation he might be better off just paying for the new switch.
I may have not followed things fully, is the difference between the C11 you bought and the original switch that the one you purchased springs back to off when released rather than the run position? I think I'm a little out of touch with the mechanical difference with the 2 switches.

From my understanding, the C11's can be configured differently. As you know, the C11 operator on the C57400 assembly is 5 postion, two being spring return. The C11 on the assembly I bought was maybe only two position. ?? Don't recall. I just bought it hoping to steal the shaft from it.

As a side note, I temporarily wired a DPDT switch so I could use the generator if needed. Down to start, then quickly through the center off position to the up, run position.IMG_2933.jpg

Can you take pictures of the reassembled S1? From several sides. And hopefully showing the jumpers in the switch. Kinda like the pictures posted here? What I want to do is put together a series of pictures to help people recognize the three different switches. And yours is the first version, (Mark I). Thats the only one I dont have good pictures of.

Ok guys, its time for me to fess up as to what a dumb-axx I am. :-(

So I finally got around to reinstalling that switch today, and guess what the starter wouldn't engage. No power on SW-1:6 or SW-1:8. After some looking around and head scratching, I saw one of the afore mentioned jumpers laying in the bottom for the control tray. It must have gone flying when I de-term'd, without my knowledge.

I confirmed from one of my pre-disassembly pic's that it had been installed across SW-1:4 and SW-1:8. (2 to 4 and 6 to 8 are internal).

She purrs like a kitten again.

My apologies to Guyfang.

Looks like I will be placing an order with ElectroSwitch for a 75902LV. From what folks have been telling me, there is no more "bulk buy" discount on this switch, but if anyone else needs to get in on one, let me know.
I'm going to confirm today if the price remains the same as above.

That price quoted is the "We don't want regular civilians business" price.

Great pics and thanks for the admission about the missing part you initially left out during reassembly.

It continues to amaze me the business they ( and many others) are missing out on due to the thousands of generators being sold to us regular folks and still need replacement parts.

Not all Government contractors are like them.
I've had several, Oshkosh being the largest, really take the time to help and sell me items at fair prices.

Maybe make a mold of the original and cast one from brass/bronze. Hope the mill work turns out a better shaft than that plastic POS.
