I expect the frequency to go high when I have the frequency set for using R2 (which I should not be able to use). Based on what I seen on this generator before. I have to adjust the tuning for the frequency by using the set screw on the A5 when it switches.
What do you mean here? Why should you not be able to use the R2? And you should NEVER need to adjust the set screw on the A5.
Thats a real possibility. The A5 works. It holds steady frequency. Just before things go south, I hear strange noises. Where are they coming from, and why are you moving the AM-VM switch all the time?
I took the generator in to have it looked at by a generator repair shop that had a recently retired 91D. After seeing it do its random acting up and running some test he told me, I need to replace the Woodward unit. It's part number 8270-1096. Any idea where I can find a replacement? Or even another model that would work?
He couldn't test the Woodward its self, but he tested everything else connected to it and it all worked fine.
THIS IS A LATE POST I HAD A SMILURE PROBLEM PUL OUT THE GOVNER SOLENOID CHECK THE PLUNGER FOR ANY DRAG THE SOLENOID CONTROLS SPEEDWITH AROUND 6 V OR LESS IT SETS YOUR FREQUENCY NOT THE VOLTAGEOS IT REACTS VERY QUICKLYTO KEEP FREQUENCY STEADY SO IF THE SOLINOID IS GOING BAD BUT THE FREQUENCY WILL BE ERATIC AND THE MOTOR WILL SURGE UP AND DOWN TRYING TO MAINTANE FREQUENCE SO YOU WILL THINK IT IS THE CONTROLER BUT IT IS THE GOVNER SOL ON THE BACK OF THE INJECTON PUMP IT IS 2 WIRE YOU WILL FIND MOSTLY 3 WIRE SMALLER ONES THOSE ARE WRONG THEY ARE JUST ON OFF AND WILL NOT WORK
