And as we get older it seems to happen more often.
I am pretty tough though. Just keep on keeping on.

I managed to groove the tires today for the UNIMOG. Need to glue and sand them tomorrow.
My back is a little bit better but it hurts to bend over.

I ended up having back surgery.....fought it for five plus years....it won

Attempted to cast some lead today. Had some problem with clogged jet on burner. Got it cleared out. Molds leaked a little. Ended up with thiner plates then I wanted, but at least they are useable. I damaged the mold removing the lead because it leaked through the center seal of the bottom. I disassembled the mold and rebuilt it with longer screws and a full tube of silicone to prevent leaks. I will try to pour the next plates much thicker to make up for the first batch.

If plates arent bonded, they would be removable for when not needed or wanted, just a thought

I was not planning to "bond" them together. I installed a dividing wall between the right and left side of the mold. I was planning to pour 3 separate plates for each side. I will remove each plate once it cools, before pouring another plate. I plan to secure the plates together and the platform with 1/2" all-thread .

I guess I did not explain my intention clearly before. I am trying to keep the weights of the plates to 50 pounds or under. The ones I poured today are probably 30 pounds or so. I will try and pour thicker ones for the bottom layer and put the lite ones on the top layer. I have never done this before so it's not going to be perfect.
Good news is no-one got injured today! I did melt a ladle and serving spoon while pouring the lead. (they were tarnished silver plated junk I found years ago) Lucky for me I had an old stainless steel ladle to pour the lead.

With all the stuff that is happening here I forgot to mention I purchase a set of plans for building a school bus. The plans are not the usual PDF file. They are paper plans. Going to be a pain in the ass. I will need to make copies of the parts manually by scanning them. There was another designer that had a nice school bus plan set on PDF but his web site is no longer up. It is a real shame since he had some really nice plans I wanted to buy.

Im very glad no one was hurt! Pouring molten lead is dangerous for pourer and by standers. You probably explained it, but i suffer from chronic CRS....So .......i think removable and addable plates are a great addition...much more versatile. Congrats on your success

2nd pour of counterweights today went well. Was able to salvage the mold with minimum damage. (need to reapply silicone sealer)
