Welcome from the big easy ( Metairie) ! Where are you?
I have a M923 cargo.
There a few of us with M939's around here but you would be the first with a bridge truck double frame that I know of. Nice Conversion to a dump. What size tires are you running in the back and are those original combat wheels?
We are having a get together at one of our members house in Pine Grove who hosted us last year May 1,2,3. Probably had maybe 40 military vehicle enthusiasts there. Good Time and beautiful place. I am sure John will post more details about it.

So, since you are new to here - possibly the first place to start is downloading the TM's (Technical Manuals). I suggest the -10 is a good read because it tells you how to operate the truck the right way.

I’m just north of pine grove about 5 mins. I’m from Greensburg.
.. Small world man. I installed the dump body, but everything else was exactly how the truck was when purchased. It needs a lot of tlc when I can slow down. Tires are the 14.00r20’s I believe. In the process of swapping over to flotation tires and wheels from a fertilizer truck for soft ground.Man I really appreciate the info on that. This is exactly why I joined. Means a lot!

@Mullaney is good at the info sharing! Welcome aboard....several members in that area of US. Had a Volvo stick up here, but company changed to a Wacker....i dont operate any longer, just make the "poo" go away....TONS of good people here.....green iron is addictive and family is a blessing

Definitely wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for sharing! I know right where McLin rd is. I’d love to meet Mr. John sometime, and the rest of yall. Would be great to find a mechanic that knows these trucks closer to this area if yall happen to know any.

Amid the flurry of comments, I'll add - check the date code on your front tires.
The military moved to the later style many years ago, so most of the surplus XLs are quite old. They have a reputation for self-destructing even though they look good on the outside, something a little too exciting for the steer tires on a heavy vehicle!

more info on the special wheels, spacers, and I believe longer studs that make up the duals on bridge trucks.

I've only found one thread about dual 1400's on a 5 ton and it was only about the 800 series. The reason I ask is because I saw an 800 series 5 ton the other day with dual 1400's, and now that I've taken the 1100's off my van, it looks awkward with only (1) 1400 in the rear. I will post back...

How many M945A2 Bridge trucks are out there? Did they ever make one?
I have seen the M945A1 bridge truck in some pictures online, but did they ever make any M945A2 bridge trucks with CTIS and the 8.3 Cummins? It sounds like that truck would be a beast with the bigger dual tires, rear drag winch, CTIS and other goodies. Username 74M35A2 and I were talking about it...
