Welp. Im defeated. I replaced the starter relay (doghead mod) new starter motor just wants to runaway when I turn the key. I tried splicing the two purple wires together (bypassing the relay altogether) but again, the starter doesnt turn off after its engaged. Wire assy on the starter are in the correct location and not touching each other. All my grounds look good. None of the red cables going from the junction boxes to the solenoid on the firewall look burnt.... the truck is getting power.(dash and gauges come alive) I just dont know what to do. If anyone has contacts in the LA region or knows of any shops that will fix a cucv. Hit me up in comment section. Any advise would be appreciated. Time wallow in my failures 😵💫

Out of curiosity, have you bench tested the starter?
No havent. I'm going to pull the unit tomorrow and take it back to the shop. I have feeling they gave me the 12v version. An bunch of guys on FB said the starter could been fried in the open position if it was 12v instead of 24v

If you jumped the purple wires and the starter stays engaged the solenoid on the starter is probably sticking on.

Also does it sound like continuously cranking or is the starter drive gear just overrunning? Either way I'd be pulling that ASAP before the thing sticks on and burns the truck to the ground. Not worth it.
