Does anybody here have any tricks for getting these Packard connectors separated?

I understand that they pull apart; I'm looking for a way to do this without damage. After 25+ years of use, at lot of these connectors have become quite difficult to separate and very fragile. Over the last few weeks, I've probably lost 8-10 male connectors.

I have all the replacement ends I need and an AF8 M22520/1-01 Crimp Tool, so the repairs are no big deal, but I'm trying to avoid more work than necessary.

Sad to say that there isn't much you can do - other than to twist and carefully extract the inside from the outside. Guessing that 50 years of sitting there ready to be disconnected has just worked on its longevity... My guess is that the internal (metal) components have seized a little bit and they just pull apart.
