Time Delay Module Killer?

Good morning, all.

I have a bit of a head-scratcher today. While out and about yesterday I noticed the cooling fan staying on on the second half of a 60 mile trip.

This morning I started some trouble shooting. I had a working TDM in the bin, so I unplugged the old one, plugged the new one in and immediately had smoke and pops, frying the TDM. That explains why the fan is staying on, but now to what is causing the TDM to get killed?

The only modification is that I have a manual push button controller that I installed when my old ESSS box died. This is the model, it works as advertised, but could it be the TDM murderer?

Past research showed that USC Industries is making these. Anyone know if they are subpar, or reliable?

Thanks in advance...

Ohm out your Cadillac valve, might be shorted coil.
You're pretty spot on, thank you for the reply.

This one was a dead short. Another one I had on the bin ohmed at 65.3 ohms... So here is the culprit. Do they just die like that, or are there other conditions that kill them?

Also, I have pulled this one apart, and am now looking for the solenoid part itself, since the entire valve looks to be $380 plus out there. Any ideas or suggestions where to get the electrical portion from?

Thanks @NDT

If you ford water you might want to keep your stock set-up. Rev the engine, release, and then ford.

It‘s probably better to keep the option open rather than to destroy the fan assembly.

has anyone ever figured out if the solenoid part itself can be sourced? There’s another member here on the forum who might have some OEM he’s looking as we speak, but what other usable replacements are out there? ive seen some sell for $30-40, but I have no idea if they are suitable. Prestolite made the ones I have, but where to get them from…
